Jewel Ghoul is a major antagonist of the 2024 indie platform action game, ANTONBLAST.

He a minion of Satan who was tasked to defeat Anton and Annie, and is the first major boss in the game. (second boss overall including the Bossbusters)

Appearance

Jewel Ghoul is an anthropomorphic purple gemstone decked in an orange zoot suit and yellow gloves. His body is another massive gemstone with a tail at the end and with a few chest hairs, and he also has a golden tooth when he smiles.

Biography

After clearing the first, second, and third levels and defeating Brawlbuster, Jewel Ghoul's boss gate will appear, allowing Anton/Annie to enter it. After entering the gate and being confronted by Satan, Jewel Ghoul appears and begins to battle Anton/Annie. In his fight, Jewel Ghoul will utilize a variety of attacks, including a rocket-supplied shotgun, fireballs from his cigar, a deck-full of cards, a Pippo in a cart to rain crystals onto the stage, or a simple sucker-punch. Meanwhile, many Diamond Dudes will assist Jewel Ghoul in the fight. Anton/Annie must perform a hammer vault attack on Jewel Ghoul's face to damage him.

After depleting all of his health, the second phase will initiate, as Jewel Ghoul, now with visible injuries, engulfs Anton/Annie. The setting is now inside his stomach, and the hero must fight Jewel Ghoul's heart, who will slam down to attack the hero, while spiked balls commonly roll across the stage. After completing the second phase, Anton/Annie escape Jewel Ghoul's inners and then hold him at gunpoint. While Jewel Ghoul pleads for mercy, to no avail, the hero shoots him, shattering his head.

In the final boss fight against Satan, the demon will call for Jewel Ghoul, alongside Freako Dragon and Ring-A-Ding to dispose of Anton/Annie. However, his head is in a cast since his battle with Anton/Annie and is easily defeated. As soon as the Bossbusters crash their blimp into Satan's lair, Jewel Ghoul is presumably killed in their explosion.

Trivia

• According to the head of Summitsphere, Tony Grayson, Jewel Ghoul was originally going to be named "Crown Jewel" and would have had a royalty motif. However, Jewel Ghoul's outfit was changed to a zoot suit, due to Grayson believing that was funnier.
• Just like all of ANTONBLAST’s bosses (sans Satan), Jewel Ghoul represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins, in this case Lust indicated by the numerous jewel hostesses dancing in his battle background. It can also refer to his lust for wealth as he dresses extravagantly and has numerous treasures around his lair.
