We had order. Structure. A perfect, faultless mechanism that was destined to re-shape the galaxy. Then you came! Old, flawed... an evolutionary stage we had risen far beyond. A reminder of every primal instinct we had buried.
~ Jhiaxus embracing his brutality as he tears Optimus Prime apart in Generation Two
Rodimus Prime: What I meant was you coudn't have possible created this many worlds from scratch. These must be existing worlds... mecha-formed. So how many already supported life?

Jhiaxus: It depends I suppose how you classify life.

~ Jhiaxus shrugging off his genocides when confronted by Rodimus Prime in Regeneration One

Jhiaxus is a major antagonist in the Marvel continuity of The Transformers franchise, serving as one of the main antagonists of the 1993 comic series, The Transformers; Generation Two, before returning once again in the alternate sequel to the original series, Regeneration One, as the secondary antagonist of its final arc, "The War To End All Wars".

While in Generation Two Jhiaxus is the Liege Centuro of the Cybertronian Empire, while in Regeneration One he is the ruler of the Hub Network, a consistent aspect over Jhiaxus is he is an egotistical renegade of a Transformer who decided to form his own empire in hopes of cyberforming the entire universe for him to take control.

History[]

Generation 2[]

Jhiaxus is one of the first Transformers created by the process of budding, cellular division of Transformers. A Decepticon warlord that rose to be a sadistic tyrant when Megatron was stranded on Earth. Realizing due to him being a second generation, he deemed himself a superior lifeform to the Autobots and Decepticons and that sadism is be a trait of evolutionary throwbacks, thus suppressing his urges to replace them with icy control to delude himself that he is some reasonable figure.

Leaving Cybertron with a legion of Decepticons, he joins forces with progenitor of all Decepticons, Liege Maximo to become Liege Centuro of the Cybertronian Empire, chief commander over its militaristic forces. With this, Jhiaxus leads the empire to build itself through means of genocide for millions of years, terraforming all planets they can come across to be replicas of Cybertron, not hesitating even if the planets have life as he strips them of all life, giving no second thoughts to these beings for being inferior lifeforms to him.

In the present day after the end of the Autobot-Decepticon war, Grimlock leads a squadron to destroy the Empire's outposts, believing to be the work of the Decepticons. After the Autobots slaughter one of Jhiaxus' units responsible for wiping out and terraforming a planet. Jhiaxus is then first informed about this by his aide, Rook, in which he decides it's time he takes care of the possible threat the "anachronisms" can have to his plans. He then attacks the Autobots and brings them to a flagship, placing up a façade of reasonability as he justifies his genocidal campaigns as he shrugs the Autobots off as mere relics of the past. Optimus and Grimlock then hijacks a vessel upon freeing all the Autobots from their cells, to which Jhiaxus follows them to track down their base and destroy them in one fell swoop.

The Empire soon followed the Autobots to the K'Tord Nebula where they were lured to a mysterious planet to battle. This fight leads to everyone's aggression being riled up and Jhiaxus' repressed sadism resurfacing once more. Optimus then gets through to Jhiaxus and they temporarily have a ceasefire so they can all escape the planet. Immedietally deciding to go back to wiping out the Autobots, Jhiaxus has an epiphany on if he is still the petty tyrant he was in the past, but then shrugs it off to have the parasites wiped out. Having grown more concerned with the Autobots not attacking one of his outposts, he is later on attacked by Megatron to which he responds with full force as he massacres the Decepticons and nearly kills Megatron and tosses him off to space, prompting the barely surviving megatron to form an alliance with Optimus.

Annoyed with the constant interference by the Autobots, Jhiaxus then orders his minions to invade all known corners of the universe and begin purging it of all non-Transformer life so he can lure them out and exterminate them. The Autobot-Decepticon alliance provides an equal footing against the Empire and helps in stopping the Empire from killing the last few survivors of an alien race they targeted. Surveying the battle, he is then approached by Starscream who sells out his kind in hopes for a position in the empire. With the location of the base on Earth, Jhiaxus orders his forces to target Earth for destruction. Attacking with full-force, Jhiaxus sends wave after wave of men against his foes as Starscream hijacks the Warworld. Starscream then turns on Jhiaxus to claim the Warworld as well as the Creation Matrix for himself. Jhiaxus then orders his fleet to attack the warworld, refusing to call them back even after a huge chunk of them get destroyed. Optimus then contacts Jhiaxus, begging him to listen as he warns about the upcoming threat of the Swarm that will wipe out all Transformers. Jhiaxus then orders San Francisco obliterated to spite Optimus.

Ordering the ship to fire once again on Earth, even when told his own men are there, in hopes of destroying the planet. He is then eventually stopped by Starscream and the timely arrival of the Swarm. Believing it to be an Autobot trick, he orders his fleet to attack it, and when chunks of his fleet are destroyed and one soldier suggests a tactical retreat, Jhiaxus crushes his head and kills him to show the rest that the assault will continue no matter what. He then allows Optimus into his ship who comes in for a final time to reason with Jhiaxus, just so he can attack Optimus himself. Having embraced his true nature as a sadist, he then tears Optimus apart by ripping off his very mouth as he blames him for the collapse of his empire. However, the Swarm then arrives to which Jhiaxus challenges him, leading to his own undoing as he gets promptly consumed.

Regeneration One[]

Senator Jhiaxus was one of Cybertron's most brilliant minds before the Great War, forming the Brain Trust along with Boltax, Tallus, Decanus and Rokan. However, Jhiaxus' great intellect came with pride, believing Primus is as fallible as everyone else and shuns him on the belief he is a superior visionary on deciding the Transformer race's future. Having called a meeting in Nova Cronum when the five minds agreed to upload their combined knowledge to their database called the Underbase. Unwilling to have his genius bottled up and bend the knee to the vision of a god he believes is fallible, Jhiaxus slays the rest of the Brain Trust's avatars, rendering unconscious, as he then proceeds to download information on how to create life itself and build his own galactic empire from the Underbase, purging himself from their memories and all records on Cybertron.

As the Transformer race descended to war, Jhiaxus has been building up his galactic empire of interconnected planets called the Hub Network, by terraforming any planet he can find, regardless if there is life present in it or not, to mechanized technospheres that only he can control while spawning a second generation of Transformers called Primum Fugae, mere drones molded by what Jhiaxus deems life, in his megalomaniacal quest to bring order to the universe. Millions of years later, he sends Rook to scout Cresta Superior so he can eventually purge it off life and add it to his empire, but is then informed that Bludgeon beat him to the chase. With this, he realizes it was inevitable he will cross paths with his homeworld and sets course to Cybertron.

Contacting Rodimus Prime upon arriving with his armada, Jhiaxus wished to "negotiate" as he claims to come in peace. But Rodimus was suspicious as he was shown visions of Jhiaxus purging himself of all his records and beginning his empire. As Jhiaxus unveils his Hub network and expresses a desire for Cybertron, Rodimus notes on how he could never build this from scratch and asked how many planets had life before he wiped them out for the mecha-formation, to which Jhiaxus coldly dismisses the notion of all the species he wiped out being life. Appalled by this, Rodimus calls him out for the delusional madman that he is and refused to ever have Cybertron join the Hub Network, but Jhiaxus then attacks him and assured him that he will have order. Meanwhile, Jhiaxus has his men slaughter the Primordial Transformers for not fitting Jhiaxus' definition of life as they reveal that Jhiaxus only considered a few Transformers worthy to be in his empire while the rest are to be wiped out. Ordering his men to regroup at the Hub Network, Rodimus declares he will place an end to his empire.

Jhiaxus then anticipates them making the attack first as Rodimus tries to destroy the connections between the planets to destroy the entire Hub Network, ensuring the ones they disrupt where never important before launching a full assault on the Autobot forces as he presents Rodimus two choices, surrender or face complete annihilation. Rodimus then surrenders and all the Autobots taken prisoners. Asking Rodimus to once again join him, having regardless plans to execute all those "tainted" by outsider technology, Jhiaxus orders him to bend the knee if he doesn't want the rest of the Autobots wiped out as well. As Jhiaxus made his negotiations, the Wreckers were secretly continuing the attack and destabilizing the network.

Jhiaxus then orders Rodimus to call of the attack as he executes four Autobots, Joyride, Sky High, Crosshairs, and Brainstorm and threatening to execute mroe to demonstrate his intent but when Rodimus tells he ahs no way of contacting the Wreckers. Ordering his forces to track them down, Jhiaxus has Rodimus taken away to use the Matrix energy within him to power his next generation of soldiers. Intending to joining the fray itself to quell it, he was confronted by Starscream, possessed by the full power of the Underbase containing the minds of the original Brain Trust. Recognizing who is possessing Starscream, Jhiaxus begs Rook for his help as his lfieforce is absorbed into the Underbase and the empire he worked so hard to build be destroyed before his very eyes.

Trivia[]

  • Jhiaxus' name was actually derived as a pun on the phrase "Gee, axe us" due to Simon Furman's "anticipation" of the Generation Two comic run being cancelled due to Marvel's goals for the books.
