~ Ji

Ji (姬) is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Jiequan) of Red Candle Games' 2024 action Metrodvania video game Nine Sols.

An ageless immortal, who lived for ages and wanting to end such curse after seeing the depart of his allies, Ji wanted to end himself by the hands of Yi, our main protagonist. He carries the Sol Seal of Insight.

He was voiced by Neven Chang.

History[]

Past[]

Because of his astrology and foreseeing the future, he was being worshipped by his people.

He was the National Affair Officer of the Jie Kingdom, but after the death of the Emperor Jietong and the rise of Jiequan, he chose to depart and became the Deputy Captain of the Fangshi Guild Elite Guard. After Lear decided to reside in the spirit realm, he later sought to protect Lear's heritage and record histories on pillars.

Ji later was a subject to Eigong's experiment, which caused the infection across Penglai and later Kunlun, where mutants existed after infecting with the virus.

Because of his immortality, he deemed it as a curse, but has no courage to end on his own.

Present[]

In disguise as a mysterious astrologer, Ji told Yi about the secrets of the latter's Journey. Meanwhile, he advises Jiequan about the Jie's kingdom legacy that it will be vanquished by his astrology, but Jiequan refused to listen instead.

As Yi arrived at the Grotto of Scriptures, Ji advises Yi about the deadly traps, while inviting Yi to his royal room after refusing to tell Yi's fortune.

Arriving at the royal room, Ji was finishing his history with Yi confronting him. However, Yi refused to fight Ji, with the latter lied about the astrology where Ji will beat Yi, which actually is vice versa, provoking Yi into a fight. After Yi successfully defeat him, Ji told Yi that he successfully completed his prophecy, rapidly aging while his hair is one of the tools to defeat infected mutants across new Kunlun.

Trivia[]

  • Ji's was originally agender/non-binary, but was later changed to male due to cross-dressing is common in East Asia.
