Jim Dooley is the main antagonist of 2006 novel Lisey's Story. He was a crazed fan of novelist Scott Landon.
In the 2021 TV series adaptation, he was portrayed by Dane DeHaan who also portrayed Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Cal Tradd in At Risk and the sequel The Front, and Andrew Detmer in Chronicle.
Biography[]
Jim's past is not mentioned in the novel. It's suggested he killed his parents by starting a fire. It's also suggested he was in the same mental institute as Gerd Allen Cole, a young man that tried to kill Scott Landon.
Jim met Professor Woodbudy in a bar. Woodbudy was an academician and a big fan of Scott Landon, and Woodbudy believed Scott Landon left some unpublished material after his death. When Woodbudy talked to Scott's widow, Lisey Landon, about giving up to papers in Scott's study, she rejected him.
After their meeting in the bar. Woodbudy told Jim to pursue Lisey to give up the papers. Jim Dooley then called Lisey Landon and threatened to hurt her if she wouldn't give up the papers. Lisey wasn't scared of him. To scare her, Jim got to her house and killed a cat and left it in her mail box.
After the cat incident, police guarded the house. However, Jim somehow got passed them and attacked Lisey in Scott's study. He tortured her and sexually harrassed her. Before leaving, he told her if the papers wouldn't be ready by night he'd kill her.
At night, he came to Lisey's home to find her sister with Lisey. Lisey attacked him and lured him into the magical dimension called Boo'ya Moon. In there, Jim got eaten by a monster called the Long Boy.
Personality[]
Jim was a big fan of Scott Landon. His favorite book was ' Coasters Daughter'.
Jim was extremly sadistic. He was usually calm and collected. He was shown to be a psycopath. He was also mentally unstable. He was unaware of his mentall illness.
