Jimbo's parents are significant minor antagonists in the 2011 French-British animated sci fi thriller film The Prodigies.

Jimbo's mother was voiced by Sally Hawkins (who also played Mother Vodol in A Boy Called Christmas, and Laura in Bring Her Back) in the Amazon Studios's English dub, Karen Strassman in the American English dub, and Nathalie Stas in French. Jimbo's father was voiced by Jaime Seibert in the American English dub, Mark Strong (who also played Prince Septimus in Stardust, Lord Henry Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes, Sir Godfrey in Robin Hood, Frank D'Amico in Kick-Ass, Pinbacker in Sunshine, Sinestro in Green Lantern, Matai Shang in John Carter, Connor Miller in Murder Mystery 2, Heraclio in Justin and the Knights of Valour, and Thaddeus Sivana in Shazam!) in the Amazon Studios's English dub, and Olivier Massart in French.

History

Background

In the beginning of the film, Jimbo's abusive parents first appeared when Jimbo is doing his math test downstairs shouting to Jimbo what happened to their tv. Jimbo's father shouts to his wife to find him, only to accidentally drop down. His parents then have a abusive argument only to find Jimbo hiding his father, who then beats him up with his belt. After seeing his father as a monster in his mind, he throws Jimbo towards the stairs and attacks him, this causes Jimbo lose his ability to control his powers, causing him to control his father to beat his wife to death. Before being released from his psychic control, Jimbo's father hangs himself with his belt through Jimbo's psychic powers. After being released from his psychic control, he dies shortly afterwards. According to the doctor at the mental hospital where Jimbo was at, he was alone for two days with his parents' dead bodies, before being found by the authorities.

Trivia

• Despite appearing only in the beginning of the film, Jimbo's parents serve as overarching antagonists, as they were responsible for Jimbo being sent to the mental hospital and losing his powers.
