F-cking punk-ass pieces of sh-t! What, d'you forget I'm a captain?!
~ Jimmy Altieri to Silvio Dante and Christopher Moltisanti.

James "Jimmy" Altieri is a minor antagonist in the first season of the HBO Television Series The Sopranos.

He is a caporegime of the DiMeo Crime Family and leader of the Altieri Crew, who becomes a rat after being arrested by the FBI, until he is murdered for his betrayal by Silvio Dante and Christopher Moltisanti.

He was portrayed by Joe Badalucco.

Biography[]

By 1999, Jimmy Altieri is a capo and high ranking member of the DiMeo Crime Family, as well as leader of the Altieri Crew. After witnessing Junior Soprano's rash behavior, Jimmy, along with fellow capos, Tony Soprano, Raymond Curto and Larry Barese, meet up at the Bada Bing to talk about it, along with suggesting Tony to take over as boss, due to the current acting boss, Jackie Aprile being on his deathbed because of cancer. After Jackie's death, Tony has Junior take over as boss, with Jimmy having worries about money, which is calmed down by Tony. Later, the capos meet again after Junior enforces the death of Barese's man, Rusty Irish, with the capos complaining to Tony of them not earning enough money. At Larry's daughter's wedding, Jimmy is informed that the FBI is trying to arrest him and the other mobsters, which causes him to start laying low.

During a card game held by Jimmy and Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero, the FBI enters the building, finds various hidden guns and arrests Jimmy, while Pussy is able to run away. Soon after, Jimmy arrives unannounced at Tony's house and talks with him in the basement. While Jimmy claims to have been able to bail out of jail time, he in fact, becomes an FBI informant and even tries to have Tony confess to his various criminal activities, with his plans failing. Tony, who had been told by his corrupt cop, Vin Makazian that Pussy was a rat, eventually comes up with the idea that Vin mistook Jimmy for Pussy, and that Jimmy was the actual rat.

After informing this news to his fellow mobsters and convincing Junior to allow the hit on Jimmy, Tony has his nephew, Christopher Moltisanti lure Jimmy to a hotel in New York, telling him about some Russian prostitutes they can have sex with. When Jimmy enters the room, Christopher tells Jimmy to sit down. When he does, DiMeo Family soldier, Silvio Dante puts a silenced pistol to the back of Jimmy's head and after the two shout insults at Jimmy, Silvio murders him.
