Biography[]

Season 3[]

In "Adrian Pimento", Adrian Pimento, a police officer, is welcomed back into the 99th Precinct after a 12-year undercover infiltration of Jimmy "The Butcher" Figgis' operation. In order to win Jimmy's respect, Adrian was forced to engage in horrific acts of torture and mutiliation. As a result, Adrian suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and is emotionally unstable. Jake Peralta, a fellow detective, agrees to work a case with Adrian. During the case, Adrian's erratic behavior makes Jake believe that Adrian is still working for Jimmy. This angers Adrian once he finds out, and he quits his job at the precinct. Feeling remorse, Jake convinces Adrian to come back to the precinct, and they finish the robbery case.

In "Paranoia", Adrian and Rosa Diaz announce their engagement and that their wedding is in a week. Jake, Sergeant Terry Jeffords, and Michael Hitchcock help set up a bachelor's party. In a party bus along the way of the party, Adrian reveals that a hitman has been hired to assassinate him. Though Jake and Terry initially dismiss it after not finding the hitman in a nearby building, when they toast to the party in a restaurant, the hitman arrives. They quickly subdue and interrogate the hitman; the hitman was hired by Jimmy to assassinate Adrian. Jake and Terry stage a fake murder of Adrian and provide a fabricated picture of Adrian's death to a subordinate of Jimmy. Jake and Terry then tail the subordinate, who travels to the FBI, leading the two officers to discern that an FBI agent is in cohorts with Jimmy. The precinct decides to secretly find out who it was, and Adrian goes into hiding.

In "Maximum Security", the precinct stages a fake funeral for Adrian along with fabricating a fake death certificate. Rosa goes undercover in a maximum security prison in Texas as a pregnant women in order to reach Jimmy's sister, Maura, to find out who the FBI informant is, with Jake and Charles Boyle aiding her by acting as doctors. Rosa's identity is exposed after she is recognized by an inmate, forcing her to be replaced by Amy Santiago. Jake constantly checks on Amy out of fear for her getting harmed (Jake and Amy had started an ongoing relationship at the end of the prior season). After some reassurance from Amy, Jake allows Amy to kick him in front of the inmates to make the other prisoners trust her. Maura witnesses Amy kicking Jake, and admits her into her gang.

In "Bureau", in order to help find the FBI informant of Jimmy, Captain Raymond Holt assigns the help of FBI agent, Bob Annderson. After Raymond tells Bob the description of the subordinate they saw, Bob identifies the subordinate as Agent Ryan Whealon. Raymond, Bob, Jake, and Rosa manage to retrieve Ryan's files from the FBI building. They then raid Ryan's house, but find him wounded. Raymond and Bob watch over Ryan in the hospital, deeming him the informant, while Rosa and Jake leave. Jake is called by Amy, who reveals that according to Maura, there is another informant, his name being Bob Annderson. Realizing Raymond is in danger, Jake calls Raymond, who is being held at gunpoint by Bob, who had just killed Ryan through smothering.

In "Greg and Larry", Jake, Rosa, Michael, and Norm Scully find the hospital room empty and begin to search for Raymond and Bob. Using clues left by Raymond, they find Bob holding Raymond at gunpoint on the roof. Bob is tackled and subdued by Terry, who had arrived with Gina Linetti. The group of officers try to take Bob out of the hospital, but the hospital gets raided by Jimmy's men. The officers disguise themselves as doctors, and disguise Bob and Gina as asylum patients, successfully escaping from the hospital. They take shelter in Rosa's apartment and attempt to get Bob to reveal information of the location of Jimmy, but Bob refuses to talk. Afterwards, the apartment is raided by a group of assassins trying to kill Bob. The officers and Bob hide in a panic room while Jake and Rosa fight the assailants, where Bob reveals the location of the files needed to convict Jimmy and his mob. Afterwards, Rosa lets the officers and Bob, revealing the entire attack to be staged with the help of Amy and Charles. Jake retrieves the files, allowing the precinct to take down Jimmy's operation a week later. After a toast to the taking down of the operation, Jake recieves a call from Jimmy threatening to kill Jake and Raymond. A month later, Raymond and Jake are living in Coral Palms, Florida as part of the witness protection system.

Season 4[]

In "Coral Palms Pt. 1", Jake and Raymond have been living under the witness protection system in Coral Palms for six months. They are forbidden to try to find Jimmy by U.S. Marshal Karen Haas, as it would risk their lives, even though Karen has been unsuccessful in finding Jimmy. Raymond finds out to his dismay that Jake has been secretly working in a storage unit on the case of Jimmy. Raymond takes Jimmy's file and tells Jake to get a job. Jake gets a job at the Fun Zone, where Raymond is working, and becomes Assistant Manager. He constantly has Raymond do ridiculous work to blackmail him to give Jake the file. This culminates to both of them getting run over by a go-kart during one of their discussions; which gets recorded by a woman, who plans to put it on the internet. Jake and Raymond demand the woman for her phone, as posting it online would attract the attention of Jimmy. However, the woman declines and demands 15 thousand dollars for the phone. That night in the Fun Zone, Jake and Raymond attempt to trick the woman with fake money. However, she doesn't fall for it and leaves with the phone. As Raymond scolds Jake for his behavior, Jake reveals that he switched the phones, and leaves disappointed. Raymond takes over as Assistant Manager but realizes that he has no interest in Florida life. He gives the file back to Jake and reveals that he wants to go back Brooklyn. When Jake reveals that they still don't know where Jimmy is, Raymond reveals that he hasn't deleted the video. Jake and Raymond upload the video online to lure Jimmy to their location.

In "Coral Palms Pt. 2", Jimmy calls the Fun Zone and asks to meet the guys from the viral video. In prepation of Jimmy's arrival, Jake and Raymond go to a gun store and bribes the owner to sell them some guns. While driving, they are stopped by Sheriff Reynolds, who discovers the large amount of ammunition and guns. After a questioning, Reynolds arrests Jake and Raymond. In jail, Raymond and Jake reveals their true identities to Reynolds and that Jimmy is going to murder them. After Reynolds express disbelief, Raymond and Jake tell Reynolds to call Karen. When Reynolds calls Karen's phone number and claims that a guy answered. When Jake takes the phone, the guy on the other end discloses that he is Jimmy and that he has Karen hostage. Raymond and Jake stage a fight, but no one intervenes. Jake and Raymond than decide to stage a kiss, which causes Reynolds to notice and intervene. Using this, Raymond and Jake lock Reynolds in the cage and escape. Jake and Raymond contact their precinct and implores them to rescue Raymond and Jake.

In "Coral Palms Pt. 3", Raymond and Jake hide in their storage room. They attempt to buy items from a convenience store, but almost get caught. Raymond jumps a fence and gets a metal bar stuck in his leg. Jake steals tools from a local vet and performs surgery on Raymond. The next day, after a failed attempt to get breakfast, Raymond and Jake reunite with their precinct officers outside of the storage room. Jake reveals their plans to lure Jimmy to the Fun Zone, though Raymond is forced to stay behind while Gina watches over him because of his leg injury. The precinct officers shut down the Fun Zone based on real health code violations and set up the Fun Zone in preparation for Jimmy's arrival. Jake calls Jimmy and discloses his location. Jimmy and his men infiltrate the Fun Zone, but the men are taken down by the officers while Jake is cornered by Jimmy. When Reynolds arrives and attempts to arrest Jake, he is shot by Jimmy. Jimmy tells Jake that he is going to take Jake hostage and kill him in the parking lot before disappearing. Amy corners Jimmy as he takes Jake as a hostage, and shoots Jake in the leg as instructed. Amy follows Jimmy as he tries to escape to his car. Jimmy is then run over by a truck driven by Gina and Raymond, and is subsequently arrested.

Jimmy is not appeared or even mentioned in a single episode since then. Nonetheless, he does have some influence over the rest of the show. When the precinct officers went to Florida to save Jake and Raymond, they were committing insubordination as their new captain, Jason "C.J." Stentley, had told them not to. As punishment, the officers, including Jake and Raymond, were forced on night shift, which would last for six episodes; from "The Night Shift" to "The Overmining". Another source of influence is over Adrian. Because Adrian was mentally traumatized by Jimmy's operation, he would display erratic and outright dangerous behavior. He would get fired from the precinct after going off the grid without warning and being arrested by a Uzbek prison, though would eventually get a family of his own post-release and would try to find new jobs related to policing; including insurance investigator and security guard.

Personality[]

Though Jimmy was unseen for most of his arc, it is shown that he and/or his mob is quite ruthless in nature. When Adrian worked under Jimmy as part of an undercover investigation, he was traumatized. Adrian was forced to do acts of torture and mutilation in order to gain Jimmy's trust.

Jimmy is also vengeful in nature, and hates it when he is betrayed. When Adrian was welcomed back into the precinct, Jimmy hired a hitman to assassinate Adrian, though he was unsuccessful. Adrian mentions that Figgis often requests the tongues cut out of the mouths of dead snitches, hiding at his use of violence as a message. He also swore to kill Jake and Raymond after they succeeded in taking down Jimmy's operation. Once he found Jake in the Fun Zone, he tried to kill him, even going as far as to shoot Reynolds when he came in to arrest Jake, just so he could finish Jake off himself.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being the main antagonist of Season 3, he doesn't appear until the premiere of Season 4, which would serve as his last mention or appearance.
  • He is the first recurring antagonist to be considered rather dark for Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
