A synopsis of Jimmy Hopkins from Bully.
Background[]
Jimmy was previously expelled from seven schools for graffiti, violent conduct, bad language, disrespecting staff, and - according to small talk - arson. Bullworth is Jimmy's last chance to avoid juvenile detention. Knowing Bullworth's reputation, he prepares for the worst.
Chapter I - Making New Friends and Enemies[]
Jimmy is dumped at Bullworth Academy - located in Bullworth, New England - by his often-remarried mother and his new stepfather, whom Jimmy describes as a "rich old phony", whilst they both go on a year-long honeymoon cruise. As his mother and stepfather drive away, Jimmy is greeted by Miss Danvers, the school's receptionist, who walks up to Jimmy at the school's front gate.
After Miss Danvers shows Jimmy the different buildings (which was cut before being shown in-game), Jimmy meets her at the front of the headmaster's office. Jimmy and Dr. Crabblesnitch have a rocky conversation before Jimmy is sent out to his dorm. On his way to the dorm, the "Bullies" clique ambushes him and send Wade Martin to fight him.
When Jimmy beats Wade, Russell Northrop - their large leader - comes out of the dorm and whacks Jimmy, but Mr. Hattrick approaches and intervienes before further damage can be dealt. Having made several enemies before even making a single friend, an annoyed Jimmy goes into the dorm, when a student named Gary Smith greets Jimmy.
Despite Jimmy brushing Gary off in irritation, Gary insists on making friends, in order to increase the chances of survival in "the toughest school in the country". Gary then shows Jimmy to his room, and Jimmy changes into the school uniform that was left there. As Jimmy sits on his bed and thinks, another, younger boy nervously enters and offers Jimmy a friendly handshake.
As the boy introduces himself as Pete Kowalski, Jimmy responds likewise, but in an irritated manner, venting on how people want him dead after only a few minutes of being at Bullworth. Gary then comes in and insults Pete, annoying him, before Jimmy sends them out. Minutes later, Jimmy goes to the main building and finds Gary, who shows Jimmy around.
Jimmy runs into Russell and bribes him, but after Russell leaves, Jimmy picks his locker and steals a cap as revenge. Gary then shows Jimmy around further when the fat girl Eunice comes out of the bathroom crying after her chocolates were stolen; Jimmy gets them back for her and Eunice Pound makes out with him, much to Gary's bemusement.
Gary then leads Jimmy to the cafeteria, where several members of each of the school's "cliques" are; Gary points out the Nerds, the Preps, the Greasers, and the Jocks. The bell then rings and they head to class. Afterwards, Jimmy and Crabblesnitch talk just outside the main building's entrance, discussing Jimmy's time at Bullworth Academy so far.
When Crabblesnitch parts ways with Jimmy, a member of the Bullies clique named Davis approaches Jimmy and calls him a teacher's pet. Jimmy tells him to shut up, but Davis shoots him with a slingshot and runs off, prompting Jimmy to chase him and beat him along with his friends. Afterwards, Jimmy steals the slingshot, which Gary later shows him how to use.
Later, Gary decides to take his frustrations out on a homeless man that lives behind the shcool's broken-down school bus, taking Jimmy and Pete with him. When the three boys find him, the man scares off Gary and Pete. After a brief confrontation, Jimmy unwittingly impresses the man, who then promises to teach him fighting moves that he'd learned in the army if he finds a transistor.
After Jimmy finds a broken radio transistor and learns some moves, he later goes to the library and finds an overweight Nerd called Algie, who asks Jimmy to escort him safely to his locker, which Jimmy does, for five bucks. When Jimmy later returns to the boys' dorm to greet Gary and Pete, Algie approaches and asks Jimmy to check on Bucky, who hasn't returned from the autoshop.
Jimmy then goes there and saves Bucky from some Bullies, and Bucky gifts him with a skateboard. Later, Jimmy enters the back entrance of the girls' dorm and overhears something in a bedroom; head cheerleader Mandy steals geek Beatrice's notes, insulting her before leaving. As Mandy leaves, she sees Jimmy and insults him as well.
Beatrice then asks Jimmy to steal back her notes for her; in return, she would be willing to kiss him. When Jimmy politely refuses, Beatrice then threatens to tell people that he was trespassing in the girls' dorm, making Jimmy reluctantly fulfill her request due to her desperation. Jimmy goes to the gym lockers and finds Mandy's; he breaks in, takes the notes, and (potentally) plants a stink bomb.
If Jimmy plants a stink bomb and hides, Mandy will shortly come over to fetch something from her locker, but will run to a toilet and vomit from the smell. Later, Jimmy returns to the girls' dorm's back entrance, where Beatrice is waiting for him, and returns her notes. Despite his initial reluctance, Jimmy kisses Beatrice after she still offers it.
Some time later, Jimmy passes by the girls' dorm at night, when he hears crying coming from the back entrance, so he investigates and sees Beatrice sobbing by the back exit, where she'd had her first kiss with Jimmy. When Jimmy asks what's wrong, Beatrice explains that Mr. Hattrick caught her writing in her diary in class, confiscated it, locked it in his desk, and said he'd show Crabblesnitch the next morning.
When Jimmy shows no pity, Beatrice explains that she writes a lot about being in love with Jimmy in the diary, and that if people see the diary, Jimmy will be just as humiliated as Beatrice. Henceforth, Jimmy is forced to sneak into the school's main building through the window. He goes into the teachers' lounge and finds the pink diary in a desk, before bringing it back to Beatrice undetected. In the same spot they shared their first kiss, Jimmy and Beatrice share another kiss.
Beatrice's diary reads:
“ | That new Jimmy boy is so bad. Bad teeth, bad hair, bad smell, bad attitude! And yet, there's something about him that is just so alluring. I told Bucky about how I felt and he didn't seem happy at all. That makes me a little sad because Bucky's been such a great friend, I'd hate to think that something or someone in his life is not treating him well... Oh I knew it! I walked by him today, and he looked at me! He's such a free radical... How I'd love to pair his electrons. The thought of us making sweet organic chemistry just sends shivers down my spine. | „ |
A while later, the Nerds' leader, Earnest, puts up a poster (of him running for Class President) in the main building, when two Jocks, Damon and Juri, push him over and tear his poster, before leaving, since they want the Jocks' leader, Ted, to become Class President instead. As Jimmy strolls by, Earnest offers him money and a scoped slingshot if he keeps the Jocks at bay during Earnest's Class President speech.
Some time later, on Halloween night, Jimmy goes to his dorm room and finds Gary waiting in his costume; Gary tells Jimmy to wear the skeleton costume he got for him. Several minutes later, pranks are pulled around campus by Jimmy, Gary, and - to a lesser extent - Pete. The next day, Gary tells Jimmy to follow him to the school's cellars, where there is a small sewage rotunda.
Jimmy is then greeted by several students who have come to watch a fight. Gary then reveals that he used Jimmy and never liked him, thinking he'd betray him. Gary then lies to Russell and says that Jimmy talked smack about his mother, prompting him to attack Jimmy. Jimmy uses his wits and weapons to overpower Russell, much to Gary's disappointment.
After Jimmy clears up Gary's lies to Russell, he tells him to stop bullying kids who don't deserve it, such as Pete.
Chapter II - Rich Kid Blues[]
Some time later, Jimmy is talking to Crabblesnitch outside his office about Jimmy's growing popularity, before Crabblesnitch tells Jimmy to see Edna, the school's cook, to learn some humility. When Crabblesnitch leaves, a Prep approaches and tells Jimmy that he and his friends have heard of him, even inviting him to their hideout to spar in boxing. Jimmy rudely brushes him off and goes down to the cafeteria.
When Jimmy catches Edna deliberately coughing into the stew, she asks him to run her some shopping errands, even lending him her bicycle. Afterwards, Jimmy goes to English and overhears his Maths teacher, Mr. Hattrick, scolding his English teacher, Mr. Galloway, for drinking in school. When Hattrick leaves to tell Crabblesnitch, Jimmy enters the classroom and confronts Galloway.
Jimmy tells Galloway that he'll get rid of the booze to stop him getting fired; a grateful Galloway gives Jimmy the scotch and tells him of more bottles he's hidden on campus. Jimmy is to find them and bring them to Ms. Philips, Jimmy's Art and Photography teacher, near the broken-down bus. Jimmy succeeds undetected, and Ms. Philips gifts Jimmy with his own camera, before going back into the bus with the scotch and meeting with the hobo.
Later on, Jimmy sees a Nerd named Melvin cursing in frustration; after Jimmy questions him, Melvin offers Jimmy ten bucks to fetch the Grottos & Gremlins character sheets that some Bullies stole from him. Jimmy finds them all, beats the perpetrators, and returns the cards to Melvin, earning more Nerd respect. Later, Jimmy ventures outside school and goes into town.
In Old Bullworth Vale, Jimmy walks by the cinema when the Preps' femme fatale, Pinky, calls him over in a lightly flirtatious manner. Pinky says that she knows all about him, despite him not knowing her; she hears bad rumours of him spread by Gary, but says that she doesn't believe the rumours, dislikes Gary, and likes Jimmy. She explains that she's last in line for the film, and asks Jimmy to rid the people in front.
Jimmy distracts the other wannabe movie-goers - which includes Jimmy seducing Eunice and making out with her again in an alleyway - and clears a path for Pinky to see the film she wants to watch, earning her admiration. As the two teens talk, Pinky makes an off-hand remark about girls liking flowers, before giving Jimmy money for his troubles and going into the cinema.
Later, Jimmy buys a bouquet and returns to the cinema's entrance, only to find Pinky annoyed that he's late for their date. When a confused Jimmy gives her the flowers, Pinky remembers that she's supposed to be mad at Derby, the Preps' leader and Pinky's cousin. Once Pinky takes the flowers and thanks Jimmy sweetly, Jimmy questions the act of cousins dating.
Pinky says she doesn't like Derby, but that their family wants them to marry, as to keep up their tradition, elaborating that their family used to marry their siblings until it became illigal, since her aunt has four thumbs. Jimmy brushes this off and, hiding his disgust and bemusement, suggests that he and Pinky go on a date. Pinky happily accepts, saying that she's starting to really like him.
As planned, Jimmy meets Pinky later that evening at Billy Crane's Traveling Carnival at the end of the block. Jimmy wins Pinky a big teddy bear, and she kisses him in return. Later, Jimmy swings by the Preps' boxing gym, but is greeted by Tad, saying he can only gain entry while wearing an Aquaberry sweater. Jimmy goes and buys one, then returns to talk with the preps, who let him in on a plan to get revenge on Mr. Hattrick for nearly getting Mr. Galloway, a teacher they happen to like, fired.
Tad tells Jimmy to go to the grocers and buy eggs, then later meet them at Tad's house. When Jimmy gets there with a carton of eggs, Tad asks Jimmy if he spread rumours about him. When Jimmy denies doing this, Gary appears and tells Jimmy not to be a liar, before lying to Tad of the rumours Jimmy has spread. Gary then walks away as the Preps attack Jimmy, but Jimmy escapes Tad's front yard and flees.
Some time later, Jimmy finds Pete watching television in the dorm by himself, and Pete tells him that everyone is preparing to watch the Preps' bicycle race on the beach at Old Bullworth Vale. Insisting that they go, Jimmy takes Pete to go there; they get some bikes and arrive just in time. Whilst Pete spectates with Lola and Christy, Jimmy competes and wins.
The owner of the bike dealership, Tobias Mason, congratulates Jimmy and tells him that he'll have his trophy ready when he next visits his shop. Later on, Tobias is seen talking to a Greaser named Ricky when Jimmy enters the shop to collect his trophy. As Tobias presents it, two Preps - Chad and Gord - enter and insult them. When Ricky snaps back, Gord steals Jimmy's trophy from the counter.
Chad follows and Jimmy chases the two Preps. Ricky then exits the shop and asks Jimmy if he needs help; Jimmy and Ricky chase the Preps to the beach and beat them up. Jimmy then recovers his trophy, before going back to his dorm room and shelving it. Later, Jimmy sees Russell manhandling and threatening Mr. Oh, the owner of the grocers.
Jimmy tells Russell to let him go, and Mr. Oh asks how it went when Jimmy bought some eggs; Jimmy says that the Preps double-crossed him, so Mr. Oh sets Jimmy up with a revenge plan - and more eggs. With the eggs, Jimmy and Russell go to Tad's house. While Russell defends Jimmy against Preps, Jimmy throws eggs into every open window, before fleeing.
Some time later, Jimmy's biology teacher, Dr. Slawter, sends for him. Slawter explains that his Crapula Maxima Fortissima, a rare Venus Flytrap, is his prized posession, but that the Crapula Maxima Fortissima owned by Derby Harrington, whom he describes as not a nice boy, was gifted to him by his father, whom he describes as not a nice man. Slawter asks Jimmy to kill the plant.
Jimmy goes to Harrington House on the campus and poisons Derby's Crapula Maxima Fortissima, before fleeing the Preps. Later on, as it begins to snow lightly, Jimmy and Pete are seen sitting on the boardwalk at Old Bullworth Vale, when Jimmy asks Pete how to beat the Preps into submission. Pete suggests boxing against Bif, the Preps' heavy bruiser.
Jimmy goes alone to the Preps' gym and challenges Bif in the ring. When Jimmy beats Bif, the Preps try to take Jimmy down, but he beats them, including Derby.
Chapter III - Love Makes the World Go Round[]
Now around Christmas time, Jimmy and Pete play darts in the lounge of the boys' dorm when a Greaser tells Jimmy to help his leader Johnny. Jimmy refuses in irritation, annoying the Greaser as he leaves. Pete suggests Jimmy help out Johnny, and that Johnny may help Jimmy get revenge on Gary in return. Jimmy tells Pete that he hates the school as they continue to dart.
Jimmy later visits Edna at the cafeteria, and he sees her putting on make-up for a date with Dr. Watts, Jimmy's chemistry teacher. After Edna offers Jimmy some money, he fetches her some sedatives and steals Ms. Philips' perfume from the staff room. Once done, Edna asks Jimmy to follow her and make sure nobody ruins the date. After a successful date, Jimmy leaves.
Later on, Jimmy visits the Dragon's Wing Comics shop in Bullworth Town, and sees Constantinos - the same boy that stole Eunice's chocolates - running out of the shop with stolen comics. The owner, Zack Owens, asks Jimmy to get them back; Jimmy chases Const, knocks him off his bike, and returns the comics for some money, before returning to school.
On the tannoy system, Jimmy hears Miss Danvers ask him to come up to her in the reception office; Jimmy goes there and finds that his mother sent him a present, which turns out to be a Christmas sweater. Later, Jimmy goes to Bullworth Town and finds a drunken Santa Clause named Rudy, who is deranged with misery. Jimmy takes pity on him and drives away the "Townies" that harasse him.
Rudy is able to pay Jimmy for his services - probably why Jimmy keeps helping him. Rudy later asks Jimmy to destroy a Santa's Castle set up in Bullworth Town, then to get him set up to put on a traditional "sit on Santa's lap" event for the small children in town, albeit in an alley with decorations made out of scavenged trash. Finally, he asks Jimmy to serve as the photographer for the event.
After this, Rudy leaves town and doesn't see Jimmy again. Some time later, Jimmy's Music teacher, Miss Peters, is visibly worried in the main building. Jimmy asks what's up, and she explains her predicament.
The Christmas pageant is apparently doomed, since the lead percussionist is sick with appendicitis, so she asks Jimmy to take his place. Jimmy hastily declines, until he is blackmailed with an F in her class, so Jimmy eventually agrees to do it, with great reluctance. He is dressed in a marching band outfit and face paint, before he plays in the pageant's band.
Later on, Jimmy decides to see what Johnny Vincent, the Greasers' leader, wants from him, so he decides to meet him under the bridge in Bullworth Town. Johnny is pleased that Jimmy came, but explains that he's a laughing stock. Jimmy says that he isn't laughing at Johnny, but Johnny asks if he's "had" Lola. Confused, Jimmy says he doesn't follow.
When Johnny grabs and threatens Jimmy, Jimmy shouts that he doesn't know what he's talking about, or who Lola is. As Johnny lets Jimmy go, he explains that Lola is his girlfriend, but he thinks she's cheating on him with Gord. Johnny tells Jimmy to bring a camera and meet him at the underpass in New Coventry later that night, in order to settle this.
Jimmy later catches Lola on a date with Gord, so he snaps a few pictures of them together; Jimmy gets a picture of Gord giving Lola flowers, the couple holding hands, and the couple making out in an alleyway. Jimmy then returns to the underpass in Bullworth Town and shows Johnny the photos. Johnny becomes upset and annoyed, but he pays Jimmy for his effort.
Minutes later, Johnny vents at Jimmy that he is the king of Bullworth, and that nobody will be laughing at him soon. Jimmy says that he's not laughing at Johnny, and Johnny gratefully explains that the two of them will teach Gord a lesson; he tells Jimmy to meet the Greasers in the abandoned building in New Coventry behind Union Hall, as to beat up the Preps.
Jimmy makes it there, but since the building was made into a skate park by the students, they are all on bikes except Jimmy, so he throws a few firecrackers at the Preps and helps Johnny beat up Gord. After Jimmy is paid by Johnny, they both leave and part ways. Some time later, Jimmy walks into the school's library, when Earnest asks Jimmy for help.
Earnest says that Johnny and his Greasers were hassling him about Algie earlier; Johnny thinks that Algie is trying to steal Lola. Earnest wants Jimmy to find Algie and return him to the library until Johnny comes to his senses, but only Cornelius knows Aglie's whereabouts. Jimmy leaves and finds Cornelius being interrogated by Gary and the Greasers.
Just as Jimmy arrives, Cornelius gives in and tells them where Algie is, with Jimmy overhearing. Johnny tells the Greasers to wreck Cornelius anyway, then he leaves with Gary. Jimmy beats up the Greasers and saves Cornelius, who then says he lied to Johnny about Algie's location. Cornelius tells Jimmy where to find Algie in New Coventry, and Jimmy goes there.
Jimmy finds Algie in an alleyway and tells him he's in trouble. Further in the alley is Lola flirting with Chad, a Prep, and asking him for money. After Chad refuses to steal from his father, Lola storms off annoyed at Chad and Algie. Jimmy calls them both pathetic over a woman, and then suggests they leave. Since Lola is busy shopping somewhere, Jimmy tells Algie to steal her bike.
Chad gets on his own bike and lets Jimmy ride on the back as they pedal back to school, but just as they leave, Greasers find them and follow them, but Jimmy shoots them with his scoped slingshot. When they get back to school, Chad parts ways whilst Earnest and Cornelius meet Jimmy and Algie. After the Nerds pay Jimmy, he later goes to Harrington house.
Jimmy sees Derby talking with Chad and Parker, and Derby tells Jimmy that the Greasers have been harsh to Gord recently, so he suggests Jimmy go send them a message, so Jimmy goes and tags the Greasers' turf. Later on, Jimmy goes to Lola's block in search of Johnny, when he finds Lola flirting with Johnny, with Johnny pushing her away in irritation.
Johnny and Lola then see Jimmy coming and the boys begin to argue, with Johnny accusing Jimmy of wanting to see Lola instead. Lola says that she heard Jimmy was pretty fast on a bike, so Johnny challenges him to a bike race. Jimmy soon wins the race, and Johnny blames this on his bike not being properly tuned up. When Johnny leaves to fix his bike, Lola makes out with Jimmy in frustration.
Lola leaves, but Jimmy later meets her in the underpass again, where he first met Johnny, and she flirts with him. When Jimmy brushes her off and asks if she's caused enough trouble, she says that people now hate her, and she pretends to cry. Jimmy apologises, and Lola then explains that the Greasers won't even talk to her, and she left her things behind.
Lola says that she left her address book, keys, perfume, lipstick, and laundry (adding the last part in a seductive manner) in the abandoned tenements where the Greasers hang out. She asks Jimmy to fetch them, and in return, she'd be "very" grateful. Jimmy reluctantly goes there and finds her things, whilst evading a sledgehammer-wielding Norton.
When Jimmy returns these to Lola, she makes out with him again. Later on, Jimmy sees Lola still at the underpass, and she is immediately annoyed with him, saying that Gord, Tad, and especially Johnny fight for her, but Jimmy hasn't been. Jimmy says that he doesn't even care about Lola, and Lola says that the Preps are coming over to fight the Greasers.
When Lola storms off, Jimmy goes deeper into New Coventry to find a riot going on between the two cliques, even involving the police. Jimmy finds some Greasers in an alleyway, but when they refuse to tell him where Johnny is, Jimmy uses his weapons to defeat them. Johnny then sees this and approaches Jimmy angrily, whilst Jimmy tries to calm him.
With Jimmy's attempts to negotiate Johnny failing, Johnny slams Jimmy to the floor, but when he prepares to beat him, a squad car interrupts, forcing the Greasers to flee. As Johnny flees on a bike, Jimmy gets a bike and chases him, whillst he himself is chased by the police car. Jimmy loses the car and sees Johnny cycle up a ramp, so Jimmy follows.
However, Jimmy loses his bike and falls into a scrapyard pit when Greasers pull a chain and trip him up. Johnny rides his bike and carries a metal pipe, trying to hit Jimmy. However, Pete, who'd followed them there, climbs to a crane and uses its magnet to suck up Johnny's bile and pipe, forcing Johnny to fight Jimmy in a fair brawl, which Jimmy wins.
Johnny tells Jimmy that he can have Lola, but Jimmy states that he doesn't care about Lola, and only wants the Greasers to know that he is better than them, and that he now rules over them as well as the Preps. Jimmy and Johnny now become partners, and Johnny goes back to his relationship with Lola.
Chapter IV - A Healthy Mind In a Healthy Body, and Other Lies[]
A couple weeks later, Jimmy and Pete are walking in front of the school's main building, when the subject of Gary comes up in their conversation. When Jimmy playfully calls Pete a dork, he storms off, but he bumps into Damon when he and Ted come over. Damon knocks Pete over, prompting Jimmy to argue with and insult the two Jocks, trading threats.
When Ted and Damon leave, Jimmy helps Pete up and implies that he plans to take the Jocks down, like he had done with the Bullies, Preps, and Greasers. However, Jimmy first pays a visit to the English classroom, only to find Mr. Galloway boozing again. Galloway offers Jimmy some, which he accepts, but Galloway quickly takes it back, knowing Jimmy's too young.
Galloway then explains that he's still drinking because Mr. Hattrick has been bad-mouthing him in the staff room. Jimmy offers to help Galloway with this problem, so after school, he follows Hattrick - either on his skateboard or bike - to his house. Remembering Tad's earlier plan to egg his house, Jimmy opts to smash several of Hattrick's windows and potted plants with his slingshot.
Hattrick sees Jimmy, but not clearly, so he cannot identify him, and he calls the police, but Jimmy escapes his yard before he is caught. Jimmy later swings by the school's library and finds Pete and Algie arguing. Jimmy asks Algie for help, but despite everything Jimmy has done for him and the Nerds, Algie angrily refuses. Algie then leaves, so Jimmy asks Pete for help.
Pete suggests Jimmy go to the Nerds' leader, Earnest; if Jimmy becomes friends with Earnest, the rest of the Nerds will serve him. Jimmy then goes to Earnest's fortress, the school's observatory, behind the school's football pitch, all whilst fighting off rebellious Nerds, who attack Jimmy from afar with their makeshift weapons.
As Jimmy fights through the abandonded woodland, Earnest taunts him through his tannoy system. When Jimmy finds Earnest, he tries to befriend him, but Earnest rebels further, before retreating inside the observatory, and being beaten by Jimmy. Realising that Jimmy wanted a partnership, they eventually form one, and Earnest lets him have a spudgun.
Jimmy later visits the school library again and finds Algie, who is now willing to co-operate with Jimmy - he tells Jimmy to go to the funhouse at the carnival, as the Jocks will be there. As advised by Algie, Jimmy goes to the carnival and gets to the funhouse's control room to mess with the Jocks, whilst rescuing Bucky and Fatty on his way, who pay him.
Jimmy later returns to Earnest in the observatory, who tells Jimmy to snap some inappropriate pictures of the school's head cheerleader and the Jocks' femme fatale, Mandy. Jimmy refuses at first, fearing jail if he gets caught, and wondering if Earnest just wanted the pictures to himself for personal use, but Earnest assures Jimmy that it's part of the plan.
Jimmy goes into the gym and finds Mandy practising with Pinky, Christy, and Angie, so Jimmy photographs this from a distance. When Angie slips and falls over, Mandy leaves to have a shower; Jimmy sneaks into the girls' dorm and photographs Mandy showering. Jimmy then photographs Mandy getting dressed, before he leaves and gives Earnest the pictures.
Some night later, in Bullworth Town, Jimmy catches his Gym teacher, Mr. Burton, walking out of Come Hither, a sex shop. When Jimmy catches him, Mr. Burton becomes panicked. Jimmy asks why Burton is holding sexual magazines, Burton says that he was looking for underage people, and was happy to find none in such a filthy shop. Jimmy buys the lie - or pretends to.
Burton then explains that he was in charge of the school's laundry this week, but he forgot, thinking it embarassing to ask for the laundry now; he asks Jimmy to sneak into the girls' dorm and collect all the female students' panties. Jimmy does this, but gets caught by Melody, a preteen who has a crush on Jimmy, so she pulls the fire alarm. Jimmy escapes in the chaos.
He then meets Burton at the school's front gates and exchanges the dirty underwear for money. The next day, Jimmy goes to the observatory to find Earnest, Cornelius, and Thad packing up; Earnest tells Jimmy that, due to the pictures, the Jocks are coming to kill the Nerds. Earnest gives Jimmy a spudgun to hold off the Jocks whilst he fixes the defence system.
Once Jimmy manages to defend the Nerds, he goes into the gym and finds Mandy sulking alone. She explains that, since posters of her pictures are all over school and town, she has become a laughing stock, and fears getting expelled. Jimmy offers to destroy the posters, earning Mandy's gratitude, before he goes out and spray paints over them.
When Jimmy gets back to the boys' dorm that evening, he sees Mandy waiting there for him; she kisses him and leaves. Some time later, Dr. Watts sends for Jimmy, but when Jimmy arrives in his classroom, Watts freaks out from the vapours. When Jimmy calms him down, Watts tells Jimmy to collect packages from a Nerd and deliver them to his customers.
Some time later, Jimmy visits Earnest in the observatory, who tells Jimmy to beat up the school's mascot, Bully the Bull (who is actually Constantinos). Jimmy goes onto the football pitch and causes trouble for the mascot and Jocks, before leading them towards the pool building beside the gym. Nerds defeat the Jocks with their weapons from the roof, but miss the mascot.
Constantinos follows Jimmy into the near-empty pool and fights him, but Jimmy beats him and takes his outfit. Jimmy then returns to Earnest, but sneaks up on him as he hears him reading a romance comic. Jimmy startles Earnest, who brushes off his book as homework; he then tells Jimmy of Operation Trojan Cow. Earnest tells Jimmy to meet with the Nerds outside.
Jimmy meets Bucky, who gives him an American football with a firecracker inside. Jimmy swaps it for the real ball in Kirby's bag, and when Kirby throws it to Dan, it knocks Dan out. Jimmy then meets Fatty, who gives him a bottle of super glue. Jimmy squirts it onto the benches, making Juri stick to it when he sits there. Algie then tells Jimmy to urinate in the Jocks' water cooler.
After Jimmy does this, Kirby takes a drink and shortly vomits, causing Damon to laugh and Mandy to retch. Cornelius then tells Jimmy that he's reprogrammed the field's score board; Jimmy just needs to press a switch on it, after distracting the cheerleaders with a Bull-dance. Once he does, it changes from saying "Go get em guys!!" to "Jocks play with their balls".
That evening, after it begins raining, Jimmy - still in the mascot outfit - approaches Ted and Damon. When they ask who he is, Jimmy reveals himself by taking off the Bull helmet. Annoyed, Ted and Damon throw firecracker-strapped footballs at Jimmy, but he throws them back, knocking out Damon and other Jocks, leaving Ted. Jimmy chases Ted and beats him.
Chapter V - The Fall and Rise of Jimmy Hopkins, Aged 15[]
Some days later, Jimmy is seen hanging out on a sunny day in front of the school's main building with Chad, Derby, Johnny, Ted, and Earnest. When Mandy comes by, she kisses Jimmy on the cheek, impressing the other guys, before they all part ways. Pete approaches Jimmy, and the latter responds in a happy and relatively egotistical manner.
Jimmy tells Pete that he now practically owns the school, but Pete tells him not to become a jerk, but when Jimmy begins reassuring Pete that he won't, Christy walks by. Jimmy flirts with her; she looks at him and smiles, but says nothing and continues walking. Pete then reminds Jimmy that everyone except Gary likes him, but Jimmy tells him to forget about Gary, before parting ways.
A few minutes later, Jimmy is seen the boys' dorm laughing with Derby, Johnny, Ted, and Earnest, when Pete tells Jimmy that he needs to talk, but Ted pushes him away. Derby then tells Jimmy to forget the school - that the whole town should know about him. Ted suggests dumping on the town hall's doorstep, but Derby instead suggests painting on their wall.
Jimmy then leaves with a spray can and cycles to the town hall. He climbs ladders up to the roof and paints "Bull Worth Less" on the front wall, attracting the attention of the police and citizens. Jimmy escapes and returns to his bedroom to find Pete waiting. Pete tells Jimmy that Gary has caused trouble and spread rumours in his absence, then leaves Jimmy.
Confused, Jimmy later goes to his Art classroom, to find Ms. Philips alone, working on her art. She goes on to Jimmy about how loving something makes her work better, and seeing Jimmy confused, she gradually confesses that she's in love. Although she doesn't say who, Jimmy assumes it's him, and that Ms. Philips is a hebephile. Jimmy asks if this is legal, and she confirms in confusion.
She asks Jimmy to collect her perfume, red dress, and pearl necklace from where she shops. Once Jimmy makes the errand, he returns to the classroom and gives a hurrying Ms. Philips the box. She then goes back inside the classroom and changes, whilst Jimmy waits outside, excited to lose his virginity to a teacher. As Jimmy waits, Mr. Galloway then comes to the door and greets Jimmy.
Jimmy and Galloway ask what the other is doing, and Galloway explains with pride that Ms. Philips asked him out, who then shortly comes out of the classroom in her red dress and make-up; she tells Galloway how helpful he's been, before they hold hands and part ways with a bemused and disappointed Jimmy. The next day, Jimmy sees the Nerds freaking out by the school's library.
At the library's entrance, several Nerds - Algie, Melvin, Cornelius, Earnest, and Beatrice - panic, and Algie blames Jimmy for a briefcase full of rats being dumped into the library, forcing the Nerds to flee. After a rat crawls outside from under the door, they all freak out again, causing Algie to wet himself. Jimmy calls them all sissies, before going into the library.
Jimmy sees the librarian, Mrs. Carvin, standing on a chari, so Jimmy manages to kill the twenty rats with his scoped slingshot. Some time later, Jimmy swings by the Jocks' turf, when Mr. Burton starts yelling at him and points out that the gym is burning. As Bo, Bob, Christy, and Constantinos watch the fire, Mr. Burton blames Jimmy for starting it.
Just then, Juri screams for help from inside, so Jimmy walks inside, finds the extinguisher, and manages to save the lives of Juri, Kirby, and Mandy. Before the police arrive, Jimmy goes to New Coventry, to the usual underpass between Bullworth Town and New Coventry, and finds Lola arguing with Norton. Jimmy sees them and asks what is going on.
They both explain that Johnny is missing, before blaming Jimmy. An annoyed Jimmy claims to be innocent, then Norton tells him that people saw asylum orderlies going up to Johnny's house, though Norton doesn't believe this rumour. Jimmy then goes to the Bullworth asylum and sneaks in by climbing a tree and jumping the building's surrounding fence.
Jimmy sneaks past the guard and finds Johnny. With the cell door locked, Johnny tells Jimmy to steal an orderly uniform and release the cells' locks. Once Jimmy does this, it triggers an alarm; he meets with Johnny and they escape in the chaos. When Jimmy asks how he got in there, Johnny explains that he went crazy after hearing that Lola cheated with some Townies.
Johnny splits with Jimmy, and after he changes back into his clothes, Jimmy wanders Blue Skies Industrial Park, a low-class borough in Bullworth, and the Townies' turf. When wandering the trailer park, Jimmy walks past a house with a red-head girl (aged about sixteen) standing on the porch. She rudely asks what he's looking at, calling him a scum bag.
Jimmy says he's looking at nothing, and after the girl approaches him, he says he won't fight her, and he intriduces himself. The girl hesitantly folds her arms and introduces herself as Zoe. Recognising Jimmy's school uniform, Zoe tells him that she used to go to Bullworth, and that Mr. Burton is a dirty creep. This shocks Jimmy, who then tells her he'd love to teach Burton a lesson for bullying students.
Zoe claims that Burton jogs every day in the Old Bullworth Vale park, and uses its port-a-potties; if they loosen the port-a-potty at the top of a hill whilst Burton is in it, it would be interesting. Jimmy deducts that the port-a-potties are all chained together, so Zoe tells him to fetch some bolt-cutters from the Spazz Industries building and meet her at the park.
Jimmy does as asked, then gives Zoe the bolt-cutters. Making sure Burton specifically uses the port-a-potty at the hilltop, Jimmy wrecks the doors of the others. Minutes later, Burton is seen jogging up to the port-a-potty, before Jimmy gets on a nearby lawnmower and pushes him off the edge. Burton opens the door covered in faeces; after the show, Zoe splits.
Later on, Jimmy visits the Preps' gym, where he finds them lamenting on their boxing trophies being stolen. They blame Jimmy initially, but then blame the Greasers. Jimmy offers to go and get the trophies back from the Greasers; when Jimmy confronts the Greasers, they tell him that they no longer care about the Preps, and focus their hate on the Townies for annoying Johnny.
Jimmy then cycles to Spencer Shipping Warehouse, right near Zoe's house, and catches some Townies packing rats into a case. Jimmy photographs this before following them out when they leave. He follows them to the docks, where he sees the Townies burning the trophies, so he photographs this before leaving. Jimmy returns to the Preps' gym with the photo, but Derby doesn't believe Jimmy's claim that Gary and the Townies were responsible; the Preps leave before Jimmy can even show the photo.
Some time later, Jimmy visits Zoe's house again and sees her sitting on her porch like usual. Zoe greets Jimmy in a playfully rude manner and asks if he wants some fun, making Jimmy come onto her. Zoe quickly states that she only dates older men, or junkies, describing them as romantic - and that she won't date Jimmy because he's a badly-dressed twerp that people hate.
In return, Jimmy irritates Zoe by saying that, by "older men", he hope she doesn't mean Mr. Burton. Zoe pushes Jimmy before taking him across the road to Spencer Shipping Warehouse to play a game she's invented; go into the warehouse and destroy the most expensive junk possible. When Jimmy wins, Zoe runs out of the warehouse, shouting that it was the best date ever.
Later, Jimmy visits Ms. Philips, who seems upset. She tells him that Hattrick guilt-tripped Galloway into committing himself into the asylum, even telling its staff not to let her in, as she is a "bad influence" in Hattrick's eyes. Jimmy offers to sneak in, like he did recently, and rescue Galloway. Jimmy sneaks in and manages to open Galloway's unlocked cell.
Jimmy convinces Galloway to leave, by telling him not to let bullies like Hattrick win. They both escape and meet Ms. Philips out front by her car, who then pays Jimmy and drives Galloway home. A couple days later, Jimmy catches Galloway boozing again in the school's car park, which Jimmy scolds him for. Galloway then mention that he takes bribes from his rich friends' sons.
Galloway explains that, since the Preps bribe Mr. Hattrick in secret, he gives them higher grades than they deserve. Galloway adds that he'd never get hammered again if evidence of this surfaced, prompting Jimmy to take pictures a Prep selling high-marked test sheets to Greasers and Jocks, and a picture of the Prep making the deal with Hattrick.
Jimmy then follows Hattrick to the car park. Jimmy approaches Galloway, Hattrick, and Crabblesnitch with the pictures, and Hattrick is fired on the spot. Some time later, Miss Danvers calls Jimmy up to the headmaster's office. Crabblesnitch informs Jimmy that Gary snitched on him for painting on the town hall, and that Gary is the next head of the school.
Crabblesnitch expells Jimmy, but since his mother is still on a cruise, he cannot contact her, so Jimmy will have to keep living in his dorm room, but may not attend classes or wear the uniform. Later that day, Jimmy is back in his casual clothes when Pete approaches him on school grounds. Since everone hates Jimmy, Pete suggests going to Russell's house and asking for help.
Jimmy finds Russell's house in Old Bullworth Vale, when Russell's garage opens; Russell is on a stolen police bike next to an empty motor-scooter. Jimmy gets on the scooter and follows Russell all the way to the chemical plant in Blue Skies. Russell drives into its Townie-made barricade and destroys it, along with his bike, when a police car arrives.
Russell flees and leads the car away, when Zoe runs form the chem plant towards Jimmy, asking what the hell he's doing. Jimmy says he needs to see the Townies' leader, Edgar, who is holedup in the plant. Zoe helps Jimmy navigate the plant as he fights through Townies, when they come across a large group of Townies, but before they spot them, Zoe distracts them.
Zoe goes up and flirts with the Townies, leaving Jimmy to sneak into the plant alone. Jimmy fights into the plant and beats up Edgar. With the upper hand, Jimmy asks Edgar why he did the things he did; Edgar's parents were too poor to send him to Bullworth Academy, so now he's stuck in town. Edgar claims that Gary would help him and the Townies get revenge on the school.
Jimmy assumes that Gary told Edgar he'd take over the school with him, and Edgar is shocked to hear this, as Gary did previously tell him that. Learning that Gary made the same promises to Jimmy and later betrayed him, Edgar sides with Jimmy and they leave the plant together. After they part ways, Jimmy goes over to Zoe's house, who asks in a panicked tone what he's doing there.
Jimmy happily claims that he thinks he's in love with Zoe, but Zoe hurriedly tells Jimmy that the school is in the middle of a riot, and that all the cliques are fighting each other. Zoe informs Jimmy that Russell is hiding from the police in the meat factory, so Jimmy heads there. Zoe stops him, asking about their relationship, but Jimmy politely tells her to wait, before leaving.
Jimmy finds Russell and evades the police with him, before going back to the school, meeting Edgar and some Townies there, who were waiting outside the locked gates for Jimmy. Russell breaks open the gate to the cark park, then helps Jimmy take down the various faction leaders. Once done, they both enter the main bulding, but two prefects tackle Jimmy.
They take his scoped slingshot, but Russell scares them and chases them away, presumabely beating them up afterwards. When Jimmy gets up, he hears Gary on the tannoy system, calling Jimmy human trash. Gary them reveals himself and runs to the school's roof, with Jimmy chasing him. On the scafolding, Gary boasts about getting everyone to follow him.
Jimmy chases Gary to the top of the roof, near the school's bells, and Jimmy asks him why he manipulated everyone, to which Gary responds that it feels great to make people like Jimmy - along with the teachers - eat out of his hand. Jimmy argues that he never did anything to Gary, but Gary says that he would have if given the chance, and that he tied up Crabblesnitch.
When Gary insults Jimmy about his mother, Jimmy pushes Gary off the edge of the roof, but he falls with him. The two boys land on some high-up planks; as they fight, they gradually fall down more levels of plants, until Jimmy beats Gary and the last plank falls under their feet. They both fall through glass and into Crabblesnitch's office. Jimmy sees Crabblesnitch tied to his chair.
Crabblesnitch claims to have heard what Gary said on the roof, and so expells him on the spot. With Gary half-conscious on the floor, Jimmy unties Crabblesnitch, who admits that he misjudged Jimmy, and calls him a diamond, though rough around the edges. However, Jimmy claims that several people helped him take Gary down, like Zoe; Jimmy tells Crabblesnitch that Zoe was expelled for complaining about Mr. Burton flirting with her.
When Crabblesnitch tells Jimmy that he's firing Mr. Burton, Jimmy also credits Pete, so Crabblesnitch decides to make Pete head of the school, and to give Zoe the chance to re-enroll at the school. When Jimmy asks about the letter sent to his mother, Crabblesnitch implies that he never sent the letter. Minutes later, Jimmy exits the building and shares a kiss with Zoe in front of several cheering students and staff.
Chapter 6 - Endless Summer[]
Some time afterwards, Zoe - now in a casual relationship with Jimmy - is a student at Bullworth once more, with Mr. Hattrick, Mr. Burton, and Gary Smith now gone.
