“ | However, there is one thing our clan considers a worse evil than death... and that's for the defeated to live on his weakness. Or her. His or her weakness. "Their" works, too. Kazuma Kiryu, you defeated me, yet you left me clinging to a miserable existence. Your act of allowing me to live is folly and a mortal sin in the eyes of my clan. In my eyes, you—Kazuma Kiryu—are the strongest life form. As long as you live, I cannot truly be complete. | „ |

After Kiryu had used Minamida's machine to train and learnt the truth about why Minamida made it, he received a call from Jo Amon who challenged Kiryu to another fight.
When Kiryu arrived, Jo Amon immedietally threatened Kiryu, saying that if Kiryu didn't fight him then Jo would kill someone close to Kiryu once per month until their fight, having done a full background check on Kiryu and learning about the Morning Glory Orphanage that Kiryu was running.
This would make Kiryu fight Jo again and once again he won. Jo would order Kiryu to kill him, otherwise he would kill everyone Kiryu loved. Kiryu refused, saying that it goes against his code before telling Jo that their fight should just between them.
