Beaten and mistreated harshly at the hands of his father for his meekness and lack of strength, Jo Un-Kyung developed an inferiority complex. This inferiority complex led him to desire more power and influence as well as ridding of himself from his father's shadow, which contributed to the massacre of the Shamaness' village, where he massacred the villagers as well as bathe in the blood of ten women (including the shamaness herself) in order to gain the Bloody Cross Demonic Arts.
