Joanne “Joan” Cunningham is a major antagonist in the 2022 Blumhouse horror slasher film Halloween Ends, the third and final installament of the 2018 timeline of John Carpenter's Halloween franchise.

She is the mentally ill, abusive and overprotective mother of Corey Cunningham that getting angry whenever he speaks to other girls as Allyson Nelson.

She was portrayed by Joanne Baron.

Joanne “Joan” Cunningham as born in either later or early 1940 She was the eldest sister of her two unnamed siblings when her younger sibling was born Joan got jealous of the sibling for getting the attention she let her younger sibling tip it’s head over and cracking it’s head open on the floor eventually she married a man named Walter and in 1998 she gave birth to her and Walter only child Corey after Corey’s birth she lost interest in Walter and kicked him out till eventually she met and married a man named Ronald Prevo but warned him not to interfere with her mothering of Corey she began to get obsessed with Corey making him stay home by messing with a thermometer to make him think he was sick when Corey had a girl over one time she embarrassed him by sitting in the room with her and Corey but once the girl left she ridiculed him for bringing home such a “nasty girl” her obsessive nature eventually became creepy as she would watch Corey sleep until he was 13.

Halloween Ends[]

Joan is seen with her son and husband eating dinner after Corey Cunningham cut his hand she tells Ronald she’ll send Corey back to the call center if he can’t keep an eye on Corey noticing Corey texting Allyson she demands to know who he is texting when Corey tell her it’s nobody she takes the plates and tells him “Boys who keep secrets don’t get custard from dessert”. When Corey arrives home on the 29th from his encounter with Michael she demands he opens the bathroom door later on October 29th Laurie visits Joan telling her she senses something strange about Corey only for Joan to blame Laurie for the disappearance of Michael Myers saying “but because your boogeyman disappeared they needed a new one”. When Corey tells his mother and step father he’s leaving haddonfield Joan tells Corey to get out of her house slapping him realizing she hurt him she then kissing him on the lips only he pulls away she kicks him out the house.After murdering the high school marching band Corey now wearing Michael’s mask sneaks inside the house and repeatedly stabs his mother to death for the abuse she had inflicted on him all those years

  • in the novelization of the film she is more crazy and unhinged and Michael Myers kills Joan instead of Corey
