Joe P. Cox is a supporting antagonist in the 1987 sci-fi action film Robocop. He is also responsible of creating RoboCop by OCP after he, his boss and his gang brutally gunned down Officer Alex Murphy and leading his wife and their son Ellen and James to move.
He was portrayed by Jesse D. Goins.
Biography[]
Joe was first seen in the getaway truck with the rest of Clarence Boddicker's gang. Later, at the warehouse, he is caught relieving himself by Officer Anne Lewis. As she orders him to not move, he asks her if he may zip his pants. As she waits for him to do so, she gets distracted and gets a glimpse of his private area, and he knocks her out. She lands safely on a cushion, unconscious but unharmed. He then points at her and laughs. As the rest of the gang demand Murphy to tell them her whereabouts, Joe walks in telling everyone how attractive she was and joking that he "took her out". As he and the rest of gang dismember Murphy with their guns, he smiles as Murphy moans in pain and asks, with mock sympathy, asks him if it hurts. After Clarence puts a bullet in Murphy's head, Joe tells him "Goodnight, sweet prince" before laughing once more and then catching up with the rest of the gang.
2 years later, he is seen at the factory where Clarence works and he, along with the rest of the gang, try to take down Robocop with bullets.
He is later seen when he and the rest of the gang are released from prison to take down Robocop following the failure of Lt. Hedgecock to destroy RoboCop due to the interference of Officer Anne Lewis who saved him. In the climax, he is the first person to die as Leon uses him as a shield. Joe's death marks the begin of the fall of the Boddicker Gang, as Clarence and the rest of the gang are killed soon after.
