Joel is the secondary antagonist in Paramount's 11th full-length hybrid film Smurfs, which is based on the comic strip franchise and cartoon series of the same name.
He is Razamel's right hand man and his assistant to help him get the magic books and turn them evil so that he can take over the universe.
He is voiced by Daniel Levy,
Biography[]
Joel is first seen when No Name used his magic to sound a signal siren from Razamel's castle then he then tells Razamel that he found Smurf Village from the energy pulse detected on his energy pulse detector he then asks if he can send his brother Gargamel to capture the Smurfs but Razamel says no due to him hating him he instead tells him to do extraction measures he then uses the UFO like device to abduct Papa Smurf to get him to reveal were Jaunty is so that he can use her and the other books to suck all of the goodness form the universe he then that he tells Razamel while he is in a zoom meeting with the other evil wizards that he has got Papa Smurf so that he can find the book but then he asks if the book was in his pocket which Razamel gets annoyed then says that he is the size of an apple pie then his boss tells him to go back to find where he got him from he then sees something and Razamel tells him to bring it back to him. He then activates a portal to get something none other then his brother Gargamel and his pet cat Azrael which he hates the both of them he then gets more detected energy from the energy pulse detector to show that he picked up a portal to realize the Smurfs are trying to get into the castle but couldn’t due to the force field knocked them of their course. He then tells him let’s go Gargamel asks why Razamel was taking him he says that Joel is his favorite henchman he then lets Joel abduct the Smurfs so that Razamel can prison them he then tells him to hang up his travel cape. He then tells Joel what do you call a group of Smurfs which Joel does not know he then asks him where is Gargamel he then tells him that he is relaxing with Azarel in the solarium he then asks Joel to get them and he also tells him to get a Clamato Room Temp. He then tells Joel to move them to the squishadrome so that they can be squashed Joel tries to hit Azrael with a baseball bat but misses then gets attacked by him he tries to get Azrael off his head but he scratches him even harder and keeps getting attacked and chased by him while Razamel and Gargamel were having their conversation plan going when then Gargamel tells Azrael to come on which Azrael stops attacking Joel. Joel then tries squishadrome to test how powerful it can squish thing in which it the fist falls in him and hurts him badly when Razamel tries to read the evil spell Joel has it upside down which he can’t read upside down in which Joel turns it right side up so that he can read the spell correctly he then orders Joel to squish the Smurfs sense he no longer needs Gargamel in which Gargamel stops the fist from hurting the Smurfs Joel tries to catch them but fails and gets his hand caught in the squishadrome and orders two of Razamel's guards to stop them in which Gargamel defeats them with Azrael as a flying cat from the castle to stop Razamel and ends up crashing after Azrael's power has worn off quickly. Joel is last seen in the post credits watching Razamel being hugged by a giant tardigrade in which is calls Joel for help in which Joel ignores him and turns off the monitor while drinking juice he then gets orders from Gargamel and tells him break time is over so that he can plot his next evil plan against the Smurfs.
