Joel Angulo is one of the three secondary antagonists (alongside Alma Sillero and Som Sisuk) of the second season of the Netflix series Welcome To Eden.
He is portrayed by Carlos Torres.
Biography[]
Joel first appears helping Charly up their boat while escaping from the island. Initially believing he was going to be saved, however, Charly's relief turns to horror when he realizes too late that Joel is a level 2 member when he sees two Eden stars on his wrist, resulting in him being captured and brought back to the island. After Ulises is murdered, Astrid hires him and his team to reinforce the security and investigate his killer. Astrid shoots and kills Brenda for failing to do her job, with Joel in sight, who then appoints Alma as the new executioner. When Eva makes Eloy take the fall for murdering Ulises, as he was the one who found the body, Joel and his team, along with Danae his second-in-command, brutally torture him in the horse stables. The next morning, Alma and Orson are tasked to execute Eloy, but can't bring themselves to do so and allow him to flee. Angered at their softness, Astrid gives Orson a warning while she has Joel burn off Alma's second star, demoting her.
Later on, he has a fighting match with Saúl, the nurse at Eden, when he brings up Graciela, his deceased predecessor and mentor, who originally started the rebellion. Provoked, Saúl manages to defeat Joel but almost kills him until Eva, who is in a relationship with Joel, steps in and stops him. Nico later finds out that Saúl was the assailant who stabbed Erick and death-threatened Astrid. He attempts to report him, but they fight and Saúl kills him.
Joel is with the Level 2 comittee to decide the fates of África and Charly, both of whom were locked up and punished for high treason. Most of the members vote in favor of executing both of them. However, before they can finish them off, Mayka secretly releases África and Charly while Saúl holds Astrid at knifepoint, with Joel attempting to shoot him but Astrid tells him to do as he says and put the gun down. Shocked, Erick asks Saúl what is the meaning of this. He explains that he wants revenge on Astrid for his mentor 's death, threatening to kill her unless she lets the other Eden residents go, to which Erick and the others deduce he made the death-threat to Astrid. Suddenly, África appears from behind and hits Saúl in the head, allowing Joel to shoot him, but Saúl escapes.
