| ~ Joey to the Vault Hunters. |
Joey Ultraviolet is a major antagonist in Borderlands 3, being the main antagonist of the Revenge of The Cartels event. A Crime Lord who's criminal empire stretches across The Six Galaxies, Joey is the leader of the most powerful Eridium Cartel there is. With multiple distinct armies at his command and call, Joey has amassed such a ludicrous wealth that he has his own planet from where he runs his criminal enterprise. Despite his hostility, Joey was actually never an enemy of the Vault Hunters. It wasn't until a rather violent misunderstanding with Maurice that lead to him entering conflict with them, and even then, it is the Vault Hunters who instigate it. Although, to be fair, this misunderstanding was Maurice trying to eat him.
Biography[]
At some point in time, Joey Ultraviolet entered the Eridium business. He was successful, and before long, gained enough power, wealth and influence to create his own cartel. His success continued, and in time, Joey's cartel became the most powerful one within the Borderlands. Joey claimed an entire planet for his own, and it served as the seat of his criminal empire, with his own private paradise home Villa Ultraviolet being found there. Joey's fame, money, and power would only continue to grow.
One night, in a underground Poker game, Joey would end up being eliminated by the Saurian Maurice. As was tradition by his kind, Maurice would then try and devour Joey, who broke the dinosaur's arm and warned him to stay away. Fearing for his life after, Maurice enlisted the aid of the Vault Hunters. They would hunt down members of Joey's cartel, acquiring decoder rings that would ultimately lead them to the Crime Lord's base of operations. Fighting through the hordes under Joey's command, the Vault Hunters would eventually defeat Ultraviolet, but it was not a permanent setback to Joey who survived.
Trivia[]
- Joey, and his Villa Ultraviolet, are all heavily based upon Scarface. Eridium can be used as a drug in powder form like cocaine, and there are piles of it everywhere across his luxurious mansion. Upon reaching him, he has a large regal chair just like Tony Montana, and just like him, there are piles of Eridium all over it, referencing to Tony's cocaine habit.
