John Acardo is one of the minor antagonists of The Mentalist TV-show. He is a criminal, who appears after Red John's death. He was played by Jonathan LaPaglia.
Biography[]
In the midst of the investigation into Michael Ridley's crimes, Patrick Jane is called to a hearing regarding the murder of Red John. The hearing is chaired by Lydia Faulk. It is later revealed that Patrick Jane is working undercover with the knowledge of his boss, Dennis Abbott. In fact, a certain John Acardo had been running his own business related to betting for a long time. One day, a certain Elijah Mackey gave away Acardo's business. Acardo ordered the murder of Elijah, but he was released from the courtroom. Patrick's task was to feel out the members of the hearing. Realizing that Lydia Faulk is chairing the hearing, Patrick and Dennis Abbott understand that it was she who was bribed by Acardo. Then Patrick decides to provoke Acardo to commit murder, thereby proving that he is capable of murder, and therefore was released unlawfully. Patrick also asks his colleague Jason Wiley to show the things that were found at the scene of Elijah's death. Among the things is a cloak that did not belong to Elijah. Patrick immediately realizes that it was in this cloak that there was a note with the name of the person who needs to be killed. Patrick pretends to take the girl away from Acardo. He orders Patrick's murder. Acardo's henchmen are detained. One of them testifies against Acardo. Later, Acardo's guilt in Elijah's death is fully proven. He is arrested.
