~ Rockefeller lamenting on how bad the Tragedy at the Center was. |
“ | I have since realized that the difficulties involved in the removal of it should have repeatedly discouraged me. And had I been discouraged, the families of these children would not be experiencing the anguish that they currently have. | „ |

“ | There are men outside the Center who had once been my supporters. Now they want me executed. The policeman have kept the crowds at bay, though I believe that my assassination, like the [Rockefeller] Revelation, inevitable. | „ |
~ Rockefeller's thoughts nearing his final moments. |
John Davison Rockefeller, better known as John D. Rockefeller or President Rockefeller, is a major antagonist in Seasons 1 and 2 of the alternate history analog horror series THE MONUMENT MYTHOS, the first installment in the franchise of the same name.
He was a president that had a very strong desire to provide the best image, and by association, the best existence that the American people can have. He first shows his appreciation to his workers and gives hope to the people of New York City through his Special Tree, which only leads to tragedy, dooming Virginia Arnoldson's life in the process. He then attempts to stop a large recession in the US through the trading of Crowns to keep the economy afloat, which only leads to the Germans using it on American soldiers thereafter. His selfish and shortsighted attempts for American improvement lead to his downfall by the hands of the Air Force One Angel.
Personality[]
Rockefeller is a ruthless person in achieving his goals, and this is highly paramount throughout his appearances. He is the only person in American history who managed to cut down a Special Tree, which was a historically impossible task, but he completed it anyway through sheer brute force, simply for giving a display for his workers. This ruthlessness creates a sort of tunnel vision, causing him to not think about or ignore the consequences that may come with his actions. When he does complete his task, and the consequences come to fruition, he does show remorse and regret, but not for what he did, but for the aftermath of his actions. This remorse and regret is also coupled with acceptance, as we see his character mostly after the first four stages of grief, coming to accept was his circumstances are and what will occur to him. Overall, he is a character that has good intentions in mind, but forgets or ignores consequence.
Biography[]
The Tree of Christmas 1934[]
During construction of his Rockefeller Center in New York City, he sees the workers there setting up a Christmas tree in the middle. It was decorated with several nicknacks, and the sight affected Rockefeller, thinking that the tree was a sign of American hope. He approached the Babylon Forrest in search of a suitable tree to show his gratitude. For twelve days, Rockefeller searched for a tree, and eventually landed on an unusual tree, which blared loud music, which ends up being a Special Tree. He attempts to cut it, then blow up it's base with dynamite, and neither work. He then hires a team of gravediggers to dig it out of the ground, which takes three years.
By 1934, the Tree is potted and placed in the Center. Virginia Arnoldson and her ten friends attempt to put a star on the Special Tree, only for the Tree to bend and teleport the children into The Horned Serpent Metastructure (HSM). When they come out the other side, the children are swapped, and the children Rockefeller sees are children from the Nixonverse, and believe he is an oil tycoon and believe other such erroneous facts when he interviews them in a hospital. They also have non-similar features to their parents and remember history differently, as well as having situs invertus. The doctors on the site say the cause is hysteria, but Rockefeller calls this a tragedy as he essentially allowed the ideological and existential murder of twenty-two children across two universes.
After the Tragedy, Rockefeller's son, John D. Rockefeller Jr., gives a testimony that he still sees the Tree from 1934, noting "it resembles a man far more than any tree." We see video documentation of the Tree doing a small flash, possibly during a time it is interacting with Virginia Arnoldson.
Founding the Giza Guardians[]
Rockefeller, notified about the anomalous properties of Giza Glass following the crownification of Flenders Petrie, would order the confiscation of every piece of the material from any American Ambassador that had received it after the British Museum gave them away as a token of international diplomacy.
He would be suggested by many members of his administration to use the Glass in warfare, though Rockefeller would quickly deny this, and instead tried to come into an agreement with the head of the Department of the Interior.
After various conferences, they would come to the agreement that various Greco-Egyptian, tall swordsmen would weild swords made out of Giza Glass, and protect various forbidden zones in the Grand Canyon.
Rockefeller Revelation[]
President Rockefeller was debriefed on a situation in The Grand Canyon, and overpopulation of Crowns due to the workings of the Giza Guardians, he is also aware of the economic stagnation of the American economy at the time. He decided that a solution could be reached to kill two birds with one stone. He would sell the Crowns to the Germans and chain multiple of them together to be used to propel and control the Luschtiff Rockefeller 70 (The Rockefellers for short) model of zeppelin. When he sees the first few constructed, he described a feeling similar to that of pranking a friend when you are young, a mix of satisfaction and disgust. He would also attempt to justify his actions slightly by saying that Crowns are "ignoble criminals" and do not deserve the right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness.
After his dealings with Germany, they would utilize The Rockefellers in several bombing raids against American and European soldiers. Rockefeller's presidency would end before he could act, and President Charles Evan Hughes would take his place, utilizing an Anti-Airship Death Ray to neutralize the Crowns and disable the zeppelins. Several Florida Alumni would be drafted and commanded to operate the Death Ray, and when they do so, they are vaporized instantly, and their remains would later form into the Air Force One Angel. In 1937, Rockefeller would write about the inevitability of being found out about his dealings in Germany, although the detail of utilizing Crowns was omitted to the public eye. Enraged by The Rockefeller Revelation, several people would surround the Rockefeller Plaza and try to reach Rockefeller to kill him. However, he fled under a bunker at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, only to be intercepted by the Air Force One Angel, and becomes evicted from reality.
The Rockefeller Foundation would call his disappearance an abduction, but as mentioned in the ADA's "2003 World Egg Transmission", Rockefeller is killed by the Angel when he is intercepted.
