John DeMarco is a member of the Gotham City Police Department, a member of Howard Branden's SWAT Unit and a minor antagonist in Batman: Arkham Origins
Biography[]
Past[]
A member of Gotham's SWAT team, John DeMarco was not only an aide in Branden's corrupt dealings with the force but also a cold-hearted killer who engaged in a hit-and-run vehicular murder of Nate Ramo, a fellow member of the SWAT team who had decided to come clean with IAD about some of the team's corrupt dealings. This angered DeMarco sufficiently that he took it in his own hands to kill off the "traitor".
Arkham Origins[]
On the night of the Joker's Christmas Eve Rampage, John DeMarco is one of several criminals Batman tracks down as part of Gotham's dark and violent underworld of gangs and corrupt police officers. Soon into the night, Joh DeMarco runs down Nick Ramos with enough speed to kill him instantly before speeding away to meet with his other SWAT Officers on a rooftop.
After overhearing the homicide on the police band, Batman arrives in front of the GCPD and uses his detective skills to gather evidence at Ramo's murder scene. After deducing the colour of the car from a scrape on the wall and tracing it to DeMarco's personal vehicle, Batman tracks the officer to a nearby rooftop. After defeating DeMarco's teammates, Batman interrogates DeMarco but the dirty cop is unfraid and warns Batman that evidence has a "funny way of disappearing." Batman in turn warns DeMarco such evidence will not go missing on "his watch" and knocks the criminal out, for collection by authorities off-screen; noting he had a "taped confession" to further ensure he will be convicted for his crimes.
John DeMarco's fate after this is unknown but, as Batman points out to him that "murder means life," he is sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
