~ John orders Ed Dwight to shoot the Queen of the Lunarians against his will. |
John Glenn is a minor antagonist in THE NIXONVERSE: A MONUMENT MYTHOS STORY, the second installment in THE MONUMENT MYTHOS franchise and it's expansion, THE ABSOLUTE NIXONVERSE.
Being one of the first men on the moon, John reacted violently upon the presence of Luna, the Queen of the Lunarians, in spite of her not representing a threat at the time and wanting to co-exist peacefully with humanity. Despite being minor, he is pivotal as he represents and foreshadows the recurring theme that humans are the real monsters, a theme that would be continued later on in the series with the episode THE MISSING EYE OF JESUS CHRIST.
Biography[]
At some point, he became part of Apollo 11, landing on the Moon. He and his group are met with the Queen of the Lunarians, who gives them a speech about how humans are flawed but can be better. John naturally responds to this by ordering another member of Apollo, Ed Dwight, to shoot and kill the Queen. The Queen is not damaged and then evicted John from reality, killing him, with it taking sixty three seconds to complete and being implicitly very painful.
According to THE ABSOLUTE NIXONVERSE, John was "Lunarianized", being transformed into the first true Lunarian.
Personality[]
Glenn is shown to be rude and hostile to both his friends and enemies, instantly deciding to order Ed to kill the first alien they encounter. He is part of a bigger series of symbolism in the Mythos, helping give an idea of the kind of series Nixonverse is (being a very cynical series, with Ed ironically being the largest source of optimism in the series). He is also quite self-absorbed and possibly even narcissistic.
Trivia[]
- John is one of the worst villains in the series, as he is not an anti-villain, affably evil or even slightly laughable, but just rude and hostile to the point many fans believe his fate was deserved.
