John Peter Barrie is a minor antagonist in Season 7 of Inspector Morse.

Barrie is an egotistic and misogynistic criminal and Satanist who was arrested for robbery and rape. However, he managed to escape from prison one day and tried to seek revenge against his former partner in crime, believing the latter had betrayed him.

Biography[]

Past[]

Originally a robber and car thief, Barrie became a worshipper of Satan purely for the rewards he believed he'll receive in the afterlife, by committing a variety of crimes with his specialty being rape.

Dominating another Satanist into being his partner, and forcing the man's abused wife to act as their accomplice, the pair raped three women, two in their own homes, taking a piece of jewelry as a trophy from each victim. Ditching his partner after that, Barrie carried on his reign of terror throughout the midlands until he was apprehended.

Breakout[]

Years later, Barrie escaped through the prison by murdering an orderly and disguising as him. He went for hunting down his former partner and tried to kill him.
