~ Jane Doe revealing to Duela Doe that the Joker knew that she isn't his daughter. |
The Joker is a minor character in the 2023 DC live-action series Gotham Knights. He was a monstrous and psychotic supervillain infamous for terrorizing Gotham City, and was a long-time adversary and the archenemy of Batman.
During his time of imprisonment in Arkham Asylum he became the adoptive father of Duela Doe under the pretense that he is her biological father, leading her to be nicknamed "The Joker's Daughter", though she is actually the daughter of Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
Biography[]
The Joker's past, and even his real name, are entirely unknown but that at some point, he descended into infamy and established himself as Gotham's most fearsome criminal, becoming enemies with Batman in the process, thus beginning a long conflict between the two. At an unknown point, he was captured by Batman and locked away in Arkham Asylum where he met the con artist Jane Doe, who was also incarcerated in Arkham after having a romantic fling with Harvey Dent, back when he was controlled by his alternate personality only for Harvey to regain control of himself and see Jane as a delusional and obsessive psychopath, which was his reason on why he sent her to Arkham. During her time in the asylum, she realized that she has become pregnant with his child, and she eventually gave birth to her only daughter Duela.
Wanting to protect her from the world, she went to the Joker and requested that he look after her while posing as her father, which he accepted. Though he left Jane to be with Harley Quinn, Joker nevertheless continued to raise Duela; on her eighth birthday, he gave her a playing card and a book on Gotham's most infamous murderers (which may have included himself due to being the most prolific murderer in Gotham). He also began training the girl in the ways of combat and indoctrinated her with his criminal philosophies, including his disdain for high society. At some point, after seeing that his adopted daughter can fend for herself he stopped paying attention to her.
Death[]
According to Duela, the Joker was killed by Batman during one of their many battles, though the details are unclear.
