Wait'll they get a load of me!
~ The Joker in his intro.

The Joker is one of the main antagonists (alongside Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith) and a playable character in the 2024 crossover fighting game MultiVersus. Just like his mainstream counterpart, he is an evil and psychotic clown-like supervillain and is the archenemy of Batman as well as the ex-boyfriend of Harley Quinn. Having stolen Reindog's gem, he used it to create his own rift in the Multiverse.

He was voiced by Mark Hamill, who also voiced the character in other DC Comics media (most notably in the DCAU).

Biography[]

Season 1[]

Chapter 1[]

The Joker was manifested by Stripe the Gremlin via Reindog's gem, whom the Joker then stole for himself, and he used its powers to create a multiverse rift in his own image, during which he also appeared to have created alternate (or rather Joker fan) variants of two different other Warner Bros. characters; Bugs Bunny from the Loony Toons world and Garnet from the Steven Universe world. He was then confronted by Batman and his newly-assembled team of other characters from other worlds and Batman accused him of stealing Reindog's gem, to which Joker mocks that the truth is more complicated than his accusation. He then engaged in battle but was defeated, forcing him to retreat.

After fleeing, he intruded on the Batcave and filled it with his explosive balloons. He would lay out several mini-games for the heroes and forcing to face other opponents whom he forced to work for him and then join the team to stop the Joker and get back the gem. When they encountered Stripe, Joker reveals that the gremlin was the one who had manifested him with Reindog's gem before challenging them to solve a card match, which they easily succeeded in, surprising him and he continues to make them face more challenges (such as doing jump-rump with Wonder Woman's lasso of truth, and escaping from a giant cloud of laughing gas) and other opponents (such as Rick and Morty) and even included himself.]

When he is now cornered by the team, he again engages them in battle, using the might of his arsenal, but was defeated a second time. When Batman demands that he hand him Reindog's gem, the Joker reveals that he doesn't have it, as it was stolen from him by Stripe, swearing that he'll get his revenge on the gremlin for the theft, so he temporarily joins the team just for that. In said rift, which appears to be a combination of digital and horror, they managed to find Stripe but he escaped, to the Joker's chagrin. If the right path is taken, Batman will asked on where he went and when Joker refused to answer, he was fought and defeated a third time, forcing him to reveal that he had seen some of Stripe's footprints.

Chapter 7[]

After being with the team for a while, he betrays them and once again fights them in another rift, where Agent Smith had remixed some of the team's past opponents. After being defeated, the Joker, Agent Smith, and Jason Voorhees got fed up and decided to put their differences aside and teamed up to defeat the team once and for all. During the battle, while Smith and Jason fought, the Joker watched while sitting on the Iron Throne in the background of the Game of Thrones stage. After the latter two were beaten, the Joker immediately joins in the fight but again was defeated, forcing the trio to retreat. Despite the team's victory, it turns out to be pyrrhic as Agent Smith revealed that a 'storm' has been unleashed on the Multiverse and is inescapable. Joker sadistically adds in that it is best for the team to embrace "mayhem" as the Multiverse is destroyed before asking Jason Voorhees is he has anything to say to the team, to which the serial killer couldn't, due to being incapable of speech, which Joker finds "poetic."

Trivia[]

  • In his intro, the Joker quoted "Wait'll they get a load of me!", which is a direct reference to his 1989 incarnation.
  • Like the other characters in the game, the Joker has alternate variants in most of the other dimensions in the Multiverse, which can also be unlocked as character skins.
  • The Joker's Batman Beyond incarnation appeared in an image on the screen of the Batcave stage.
