Jonathan is a supporting antagonist in Season 4 of CW's Riverdale. He was a student in Stonewall Prep and a member of the Quill and Skulls.
He is portrayed by Alex Barima.
History[]
Jonathan first appears at a reading of Moby Dick with Donna Sweett and Joan Berkeley when Bret Weston Wallis introduces them to a new student named Jughead Jones. Jonathan is fascinated by Bret's story like everyone else except Jughead. Later, Jonathan, along with Donna and Joan, watches in amazement Bret and Jughead's fight after Bret insulted Jughead's family.
On Halloween night, Donna drugs Jughead and she, Bret, Jonathan and Joan lock him in a coffin overnight as a prank. When Jughead confronts them the next day, Bret claims it's a Stonewall Prep tradition that shouldn't be taken seriously. When their teacher Rupert Chipping apparently commits suicide by jumping out the window, Jughead panics and says they should call the ambulence while Jonathan and the others are unsympathetic.
Bret, Donna, Jonathan and Joan eventually recruit into their secret society, "The Quill & Skulls", of which Bret is the leader, by giving him an honorary pin hidden inside a skull that Jughead smashes. They also join together in the basement and discuss their private lives together.
After Jughead got expelled for allegedly plagiarizing his story, Bret invites him to an Idles of March party which is really a trap to kill him. As part of the plan, Jonathan and Joan lead two of Jughead's friends, Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge, to the forest where they find Jughead's girlfriend Betty Cooper standing over his body with the bloody rock Donna planted in Betty's hands to frame her.
However, Jughead turns up alive at Stonewall Prep weeks later, as the blow was cushioned by his beanie. When he and Betty lock everyone inside to explain how they uncovered Stonewall Prep's secrets, Betty asks where Jonathan is and Donna claims he had food poisoning. When Betty and Jughead's half-brother Charles is questioning the preppies one by one, Joan reveals it was Jonathan's job to check Jughead's pulse which he failed to do. It's unknown what happened to Jonathan after this, but he most likely transferred to another school like Donna.
