Josephine Lightbourne is the main antagonist (alongside her father, Russell Lightbourne) in the sixth season of the CW show The 100.
She was portrayed by Sara Thompson.
Description[]
Josephine was part of the team that colonized the planet Alpha that she had the idea to name Sanctum. After that, she and her family became "Prime", people who transfer their spirit into the body of another human being to be immortal. At the start of the season, Russell and Simone were desperate to bring Josephine back and eventually used Clarke as a host, killing her. However her return was only temporary as Clarke fought Josephine's spirit to regain her body and annihilate it.
Biography[]
Josephine first appears in a flashback with her family and her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Santiago on Sanctum. It was then that due to the Red Sun toxin, Russell lost his mind and killed everyone in his path declaring that Sanctum was his. However, he and Gabriel found a way to survive by placing their minds in chips and placing them in the bodies of other human beings. This is what Clarke's friends who came to Sanctum 236 later learn, thanks to video recordings.
Josephine's parents learn that Clarke is a Nightblood don't wait and resuscitate Josephine. Josephine's mission then is to find out who Nightblood is in Clarke's group while posing as her. She then makes a deal with John Murphy for Abby to create Nightbloods and in exchange, Murphy will be immortal. In the process, Josephine attracts suspicion from Bellamy and Gaia especially when they notice that she does not understand Trigedasleng. Bellamy then realizes that Clarke is no more and accepts the deal in getting the Primals on Sanctum a complex if he does not disclose anything about Clarke's death. It turns out, however, that Clarke's spirit is still present in the body and that she warns Bellamy in Morse code.
Josephine then warns Russell that Clarke is alive and refuses to have another host with only 36 hours left before Clarke's body is no longer usable. She is then trapped by Emori, Echo and Bellamy in the fields at the radiations shield. She is then taken into the forest by Bellamy who wants help from the Children of Gabriel to remove the chip from the body. Meanwhile, Clarke and Josephine's minds collide, and Clarke's body experiences epileptic seizures. Clarke's body is eventually brought to Gabriel who stops the heart and removes the Mind Drive. Bellamy revives her then not wanting to lose her friend and Clarke confronts Josephine again, killing her by swinging an ax through her head, destroying Josephine's consciousness which had managed to hang on inside of Clarke's body.
