For similarly named individuals, please see Juan Borgia.

Juan Borgia is a central character in the 2011 Showtime series The Borgias. He is the second son of Rodrigo Borgia and his mistress Vanozza dei Cattaneo. Juan is the younger brother of Cesare and the elder brother of Lucrezia and Gioffre.

When first seen Juan is on the streets of Rome. He trades insults with and allows himself to be drawn into a fight with a young Roman. Juan managed to injure another man who joined in on the fighting but was soon knocked down by the Roman he had started the fight with. This Roman was about to deliver the coup de grace but was stopped at the last minute by Cesare.

After his father was elected Pope Juan was named Gonfalonier of the Church. Juan was incompetent in this role, and led the Papal armies to a disastrous defeat against the French. He only survived because Lucrezia intervened on his behalf with the King of France.

Due to Juan's difficulties tension between him and his siblings began to increase. Juan resented that Cesare was a far more capable warrior and leader than he ever was. After his behavior endangered the life of Lucrezia's child, Cesare decided that Juan needed to be dealt with and murdered him.
