That's how you've been able to endure those flames all this time, but you should start being honest with yourself... This world will soon be engulfed by ice. All living things will be consumed by death. You who is cloaked in flames will be the only survivor.
~ Judah confronting Agni's morals.

Judah, later known as Luna, is the main antagonist of Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga series Fire Punch.

Judah is a woman with a regeneration blessing who's the leader of the Behemdolg Army, a colony of humans that performed several acts of cruelty to other fellow humans in the post-apocalyptic world of the manga. Due to her status as the leader of Behemdolg, Judah is indirectly responsible for most of the misfortune of the life of series' protagonist Agni, including the death of his village, but despite this, Agni cannot bring himself to kill or hurt her, due to her physical likeness to his dead sister. After the timeskip, caused by the explosion of the World Tree, Judah lost her memories and became a major ally to Agni as well as being adopted by him as his "sister", taking the role that Luna once had on his life.

Appearance[]

Luna and judah

Judah's uncanny resemblance to Luna.

Judah looks almost identical to Agni's sister Luna as well as to Sulya. She's an adult woman with short white hair and blue eyes. As the leader of the Behemdolg army, she wears a long dark military coat to sustain the extremely cold weather of the world, complete with snow boots and gloves. After she loses her memory and gets taken under the wing of Lean's colony she adopts a more casual look with a sweater over a pajama dress shirt and sweatpants.

Personality[]

Judah is cynical and cold-hearted individual, hardened by years of responsibility of being the messiah of Behemdolg. She's very apathetic to human suffering and is not afraid to commit atrocities if that does benefit Behemdolg as a whole. Despite this, Judah is shown to feel constantly pressured by her "messiah" status to the point that once her military base is destroyed she becomes suicidal and begs Agni to kill her.

After losing her memory during the timeskip, Judah's mind is reverted to a childlike state. She now acts more cheerful and playful, especially around her "brother" Agni. After years on Lean's colony of women and under Agni's care, Judah matured quite a bit from her initial state, while still maintaining her joyful personality. During this time, she also develops a crush on Agni, revealing that deep down she knew that he wasn't actually her brother.

Biography[]

Judah childhood

As a child, Judah is given the role of Behemdolg's "messiah" by her father.

Background[]

During her childhood, Judah was given the role of "messiah" of the Behemdolg people by her father who advised her to pretend to be able to hear God's voice in order to "unite humanity". After the death of her father, Judah becomes the leader of Behemdolg. During her reign, she makes up wonderful stories about their "King", who was described as a human with godlike powers who watched over everyone. To further back up her narrative, Judah would show old blockbuster movies to her army as propaganda, claiming those to be images of their King and his extraordinary powers. She's also responsible for making up the story of the "Ice Witch", an individual with an ice blessing who supposedly froze Earth centuries ago.

Fire Punch[]

Judah is first seen riding in the snow with a snow mobile, where she meets Sun, who leads her to Agni's location. She then beheads Agni, getting his fire caught on her arm, which she frees herself from by cutting off her own arm. The Behemdolg army arrives to capture Agni, recognizing the fire on his body as being product of Doma's blessing. Judah then reveals her face and her resemblance to Luna startles Agni who starts to think that she might be his dead sister Luna who somehow survived the destruction of her village. The burning man is quickly overpowered as the army starts shooting his severed head in order to slow down his regeneration. In the meantime, Judah calls for Doma so he can analyse what is the deal with Agni's flames, which causes him to come to meet him. After Agni regenerates himself, kills both of the guards keeping him hostage and attempts to kill a now regretful and aged Doma, Judah orders Doma to stop attack and decapitates Agni once again offscreen, now planning on officially executing him by drowning his head on the ocean.

Togata judah head

Togata threatening to drown Judah.

Judah and various soldiers of Behemdolg get on a train heading to the seaside, carrying Agni's head in a box. Unexpectedly, the train gets hijacked by the amateur movie director Togata, who fights and kills the soldiers within, including the high ranking members Ivan and Simon. Judah tries to stop him and faces off Togata in a hand to hand fight, which ends with her being decapitated and having her head kicked off the train. After Togata escapes the train with the enslaved girl Neneto, who became her cameraman, Agni is freed by having his box exploded by bombs planted by Togata. Judah, who had escaped the train attack, reincounters him with his new partners on a nearby beach. Agni is elated, still firmly believing that Judah might be Luna, which she veemently denies, claiming she had lived for over 130 years and has no idea what he's talking about. Togata then quickly incapacitates her and decapitates her once again and then threatens to throw her head in the sea to drown her. Agni, who despite everything, still clings on the idea that she might secretly be Luna, stops Togata, telling him that if he lets her go, he'll star on his movie. After Judah fully regenerates herself, Togata lets her go and she escapes.

Agni vs judah

Judah and her army facing off Agni.

Judah returns to Behemdolg, where she's put in a hospital and stays there under the care of Jack for various days. In one of those days, she's visited by Togata who tells her to get herself ready for Agni's arrival in Behemdolg, doing so in order to film an epic combat between "Fire Man" and the Behemdolg forces. The movie director then threats Judah by saying that he hid bombs all over Behemdolg and will destroy the entire colony if she does try to kill him, detonating one of the buildings in order to prove his point. This motivates Judah to start garnering an anti-Agni squad, consisting of death row members with powerful blessings. She also introduces Togata to Doma, in a jail cell due to his mental condition, proving that he's incapacitated for the job.

After Agni finally arrives at Behemdolg, freeing their slaves, he encounters Judah alongside her forces of death row blessed individuals. After a long fight between Agni and the blessing users, in which the protagonist shows off his "Fire Punch", the burning man ends up destroying the entire city by accidentally activating the bombs inside the buildings with his fire. Judah survives the destruction and upon seeing her entire kingdom be destroyed, falls into deep depression knowing she doesn't need to keep up with her messiah façade. She desperately tries to kill herself on Agni's flames, action which Agni tries to stop her from doing. After having a talk with him in which she conflicts his feelings of empathy and of revenge, she manages to touch his face, causing his fire to spread to her arm. As she lies down, accepting her death, she's unexpectedly decapitated by Sulya. She immobilizes Agni by impaling him using her ice powers and runs away with Judah's head.

Sulya takes Judah to her cabin, where she fully regenerates. While there, she reveals her face to Judah, showing that she looks the exact same as her, claiming the two of them are from an advanced species of human. Sulya then carefully explains her plan of universal destruction to Judah, saying that to heat the Earth, she must become a "World Tree", a tree that branches itself into every single living thing on Earth and the universe, sucking out their energy and warming the planet. She also mentions that she had tried this a long time ago, but gave up midway through, due to her desire of seeing the unreleased Star Wars movie. Tearing up, Judah reluctantly agrees to her plan and starts her transformation into the tree off-screen.

Agni finds judah

Agni finding Judah's body on the Wolrd Tree.

After Agni is saved by Togata from a suicide attempt, which caused his death on his flames, he notices the World Tree forming on the distance. Horrified, he then comes face to face with Sulya, who starts calling him a villain due to the horrible murders he had commited not long ago on Doma's camp and the destruction of Behemdolg, saying she's gonna take great pleasure in seeing his death. After this, Agni starts hearing Judah's voice from inside the World Tree on his head, begging for him to put her out of her misery, saying that she was responsible for every unfortunate event of his life up to that point and that he'd have a reason to kill her. Sulya, however, commands Judah to kill Agni, who is impaled by the World Tree's branches and dragged to its trunk. The Fire Man starts climbing the World Tree in order to find Judah, all the while Sulya is watching him, chanting death wishes. After climbing to the top, Agni finds Judah inside the branches, as goes in to finally kill her with a final punch, but before doing anything, he asks her one more time if she's sure she isn't actually his sister, to which she once again says she is sure she isn't. Agni then starts punching her repeatedly, thinking that if he kills Judah, she will somehow turn into his sister and they will finally have a happy ending together. The punches however, end up exploding the World Tree.

Post-timeskip[]

After the World Tree's destruction, Judah and Agni are both transported to 8 years into the future. Agni is now free of Doma's fire and is now lacking his right arm, destroyed on the explosion. After seeing Judah laying there uncounscious, Agni prepares himself to strike the finishing blow on her, until she wakes up, now reverted back to a child-like mentality, running around cheerfully and playfully. She then asks Agni who he is and who she was. Upon noticing that she now had amnesia, Agni tells Judah that her name is actually Luna and that she is his sister. After the two have a laugh, Agni reminds himself that she wasn't actually Luna and was, in fact, the main culprit behind her death. He starts preparing himself to beat her to death once more until she unexpectly hugs him tightly, making him notice that he was no longer on fire. Agni tells "Luna" that they need to get some clothes and suggests going on a nearby abandoned factory to get some.

Judah dress up

Judah trying on different outfits.

While the two are inside trying to find some clothes, Agni is constantly reminding himself to kill her, that is until he realizes he couldn't bring himself to do it, because she was "too cute". Crying and refusing to accept living a lie, Agni asks Judah if she is his sister, to which she replies yes. Agni then changes his mind completely on killing her and decides to pretend that she was Luna. The two start playing dress-up with the clothes in the wardrobe until they are surrended by a woman called Tena, who was one of Doma's disciples. She points a gun at them, asking who they were and calling the two perverts.
