Julio Benes is a minor antagonist in ShowTime's series Dexter.
He was portrayed by Luis Moncada, who has also portrayed Marco Salamanca in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Biography[]
Benes only appeared in the episode "Once Upon a Time", as the shot caller for a drug gang called the Locos. He and his second-in-command Leo Hernandez rolled up in a car outside Brother Sam's auto repair shop and demanded one of his employees, an ex-member called Nick. Sam demanded that they leave but they refused to go without Nick. This resulted in Hernandez being clobbered by Dexter Morgan and Benes pulling a gun on Brother Sam before Dexter scared him off by telling him he was from Miami Metro Homicide. Benes left, but told Sam that he would be back, reminding him that Hector Nunez's body was never found.
Dexter researched his claim and realized that Nunez was a barbershop owner who disappeared after crossing the Locos, as well as that Benes had killed two or three other local store owners. After sedating Benes, Dexter took him to the barbershop where Nunez was killed and wrapped plastic wrap around him to stop him escaping before cutting his throat.
