Jun Saeki (佐伯 淳, Saeki Jun) is an antagonist in Kurohyou 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Ashura-hen. He is the secretary and fixer for Tokyo Governor Tadashi Tsurumi, and a former policeman.
Appearance[]
Saeki is a tall, thin and bald man. His eyes are black and he has a hunched neck. Of note is his extremely long, snakelike tongue, that corroborates his overall slender, serpentine appearance. While in combat, his eyes turn red. In the TV serial, he looks identical to Reiji Shinjo instead.
He wears a blue suit over a striped red shirt and a red tie, blue suit pants, and a pair of black leather shoes.
Personality[]
While in public, Saeki puts up a facade and acts like a calm and level-headed professional; making him look unthreatening and kind. However, when called to combat, he shows his true psychopathic and deranged nature, having a tendency to lick his katana or displaying other freakish mannerisms as a way to taunt opponents. He's shown to have no remorse nor fear to kill people as he's quick to pull out a deadly weapon to deal with Tatsuya.
Biography[]
Almost nothing is known about Saeki, except that he was Tsurumi's long-time henchman, ever since Tsurumi had served as the TMPD's Organized Crime Division Chief.
Kurohyou 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Ashura-hen[]
Saeki is first seen when Tsurumi demands information about Tatsuya. He insists that Tsurumi calms down and assures him that Tatsuya will be dealt with.
Later, him and Ryo Nozaki go out drinking after Futa Kinjo's defeat. It is during this meeting that Saeki explains the Kamuro Vegas Plan to Nozaki, and Nozaki's true intentions are revealed.
Towards the end of the game, Saeki calls Tatsuya and tells him to come to the Millennium Tower and quietly hand over the pen drive containing a list of Tsurumi's wrongdoings. This triggers the final showdown of the game. After Tatsuya defeats the KHS officers scattered through the tower, he reaches the rooftop where Tsurumi and Saeki are waiting. Following Tsurumi's futile talk with Tatsuya, Saeki decides to forcibly take the pen drive and goes insane. He and Tatsuya engage in combat, and Saeki is soundly thrashed.
It is unknown what happened to Saeki afterwards. He was most likely arrested and awarded a life term in jail for his aide in Tsurumi's corruption.
Powers and Abilities[]
Saeki is described as being a kendo champion by Tsurumi; as such, he is the only boss in Kurohyou 2 to use a proper weapon. He is, however, also a formidable Taido fighter. By far, he is the most difficult boss in the game.
In his first phase at the start of hiss boss fight, Saeki wields a katana and uses his own moveset consisting of mostly wild swings which can deal massive damage and are difficult to dodge due to their lack of start-up frames except for his charging slash, he has hyper armor in this phase and cannot have his guard broken, be brought to his knees or even knocked down.
Once Saeki is disarmed, the second phase starts with a "Brawl" quick time event, once Tatsuya succeeds in the brawl, Saeki will immediately enter heat mode. His fighting style, despite being called "Ancient Japanese Martial Art", is actually his own unique version of Extreme Instant Death, he is incredibly fast in this phase to the point where the game camera cannot keep up with him and has a tendency to aimlessly run around the helipad.
Saeki's Heat attack is a devastatingly fast 5- or 6-hit combo, and if the last hit connects, he can immediately follow up with "Rift Dance". His deathblows are Ogre Fang (in the story), Knifehand Strike (in Premium Adventure) and Scorpion Tail.
Trivia[]
- He is one of only 2 bosses in the Kurohyou series with a unique aura, his being dark purple. However, the purple aura appears to function in the same way as every other boss's pink and cyan Heat, since it appears both when he is about to do his Heat attack and when he is in the tired state.
- Saeki's second name, 佐伯, is composed of the kanji for assistant or aide, and chief, respectively. This is fitting due to his role in the game's story.
