Biography[]
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Movie Magic[]
Juniper Montage first appears meeting Sci-Twi and Rainbow Dash on the set of the new Daring Doo movie. She introduces herself as the niece of the film's director, Canter Zoom, as well as his personal gopher, who is often tasked with buying him coffee and preparing him for the film shoot. She also says that she is the keeper of the keys to every area of the film studio. A huge fan of the Daring Do series, Juniper always wanted her uncle to cast her as Daring Doo in the movie, but he turned her down in favor of star actress Chestnut Magnifico.
When a series of unfortunate events occur around the studio, such as the sabotage of the volcano set and the theft of several important props for the film, Juniper Montage is eventually revealed to be the culprit. She admits that she did it out of anger at never being cast as Daring Doo and a deep grudge against Chestnut Magnifico. While her uncle forgives her, Juniper is banned from the studio. As studio security escorts her off the set, she glares back at Humane Seven before disappearing through the doors.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Mirror Magic[]
Juniper Montage first appears as an usher at a movie theater in the Canterlot Mall. Despite her uncle giving her the job out of pity, she is extremely unhappy with her situation and is extremely angry at Humana Seven for ruining her chances of becoming famous. Later, while trying on sunglasses at a mall kiosk, Juniper looks into a hand mirror that has been tainted with Equestrian magic and sees herself idealized as a famous movie star. She eventually becomes deeply obsessed with the mirror.
While cleaning up the popcorn, Juniper Montage suddenly discovers that the magic mirror can teleport things by absorbing them into itself. When Humana Seven encounters her again, she takes out her anger on them for ruining her dreams and traps them inside the mirror. Later, when confronted by Sunset Shimmer, Juniper traps her in the mirror as well. When the girls are trapped in Limbo, their pendants' power suddenly activates and transfers their Friendship Magic to Juniper, turning her into a giant, monstrous version of her imaginary self.
After her transformation, Juniper becomes so wrapped up in her own dreams and fantasies that she believes the people she terrorizes are adoring fans of her. Starlight Glimmer tries to reason with Juniper, but she refuses to listen. When Starlight offers Juniper friendship instead of fame, Juniper destroys all the magic created by the mirror, freeing the Humane Seven from Limbo, returning their Friendship Magic to them, and returning herself to normal. Juniper apologizes to the girls for her actions, and they forgive her and accept her as their new friend.
Personality[]
In her first appearance, Juniper Montage is presented as a very friendly and innocent character. Much like Sci-Twi and Rainbow Dash, she is a huge fan of A.K. Yearling, meeting her once and having her sign her copy of the latest book, Daring Doo. She is also introduced as a huge movie enthusiast, having worked on the sets of all of her uncle's films, as evidenced by her bobby pins.
However, as the series progresses, Juniper's true colors become more apparent. Her ultimate desire is to become Daring Doo, as well as become a famous movie star. Her desire is so strong that she is willing to sabotage the production of the film. Furthermore, she is petty and unwilling to admit her mistakes enough to abandon her dreams in this way, as after she fails to achieve her goals, she calmly lashes out at those responsible, such as when she uses a magical mirror to trap Sunset Shimmer and her friends in Limbo. Additionally, Juniper Montage also shows complete indifference towards her job as a theater usher, and she willfully ignores her boss and is very reluctant to complete any tasks given to her.
When transformed into her magical form, her visual perception of the real world is greatly distorted, as she perceives people screaming in fear as adoring fans.
However, despite all her crimes against the main characters, she expresses deep remorse in the end, as it becomes quite obvious that all of her actions stem from a basic desire to please others.
Trivia[]
- She is the only human villain in the Equestria Girls specials to come into possession of an item tainted with Equestrian magic and undergo a magical transformation in the process.
- She is also the third Equestria Girls character to possess a full set of Humane Seven's Friendship Magic (the others being Gloriosa Daisy, who used the power of all seven magic crystals to transform into Gaia Everfree, and Midnight Sparkle, who gained her powers by absorbing a full set of Friendship Magic unintentionally collected by Sci-Twi through a special device).
