Juzo Fuwa is a mysterious Gedoshu and a major antagonist in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. He is regarded by his fellow Gedoushu as a lone wolf or "stray", yet seems to have more knowledge than Doukoku Chimatsuri about the Sanzu River's true potential.
He was portrayed by Mitsuru Karahashi.
Biography[]
For centuries, Juzo searched for an ideal opponent to fight, a fellow samurai who strays from the teachings of bushidō. As a result, Juzo mistakes the blade's cries of sadness for an equal lust for battle, though he later claims that his family has lost their desire to stop him after he entered the Sanzu River.
Developing an obsession with fighting Takeru, this would eventually lead to Doukoku sealing his Gedoushu powers and leaving him for dead in the Sanzu River. However, Juzo survives, with the Uramasa's blade shattered. He remains in the mountainside until Dayu finds him and relays Akumaro's offer to work for him in return for restoring his blade.
Much to his chagrin, he has to rely on a replacement broadsword that hampers his normal fighting style. Later fed up waiting for the As it turns out, though, he knew the history behind his blade, having desired nothing but the bloodshed throughout his life.
In one last battle against Takeru, he is sliced in half Takeru's sword and destroyed along with the Uramasa.
Personality[]
He is one of two Gedoushu with viler motives and goals than his kind (Not counting Buredoran since he only pretended to be one) along with Akumaro. But in his case, he is a bloodthirsty and sadistic warrior who seeks a worthy opponent to clash blades with.
Even as a human master swordsman, he saw the pleasure of killing his opponents to be more fulfilling than the ways of bushido, ignoring the pleas of his family (Including his wife) to free himself from his obsession. He wouldn't let even death stop him, thus why he became a Gedoushu once he becomes fatally ill.
There are times where he is cunning and manipulative. For instance, he was content with letting people believe he personally murdered his own family, and when he meets their true killer Akumaro, he was able to pretend to be fooled by his deception so he can gain Uramasa and continue his pleasure, as well as pretend to go along with Akumaro's plan to unleash hell on Earth until he was vulnerable. In his final battle, he even tries to get Takeru to give up his humanity and become a Gedoushu, wanting their battle to last for centuries.
Caring only about fighting and killing, he doesn't even care that Uramasa was created by the souls of his family, choosing his own goal over them. He doesn't really care for his fellow Gedoushu either, possibly except Dayu since he doesn't harm or betray her, though that's likely because he sees no point in doing so, and will attack them if it interferes with his plans to duel Takeru, not to mention betraying both Dokoku and Akumaro (resulting in the latter's death). He even threatens innocent civilians in order to force Takeru into dueling.
He has zero sense of honor. The closest he gets is when he cures Takeru of the poison Shitari put inside him and slashes Akumaro instead of the center of his portal to hell, but neither of those instances are truly honorable. The former he does because it wouldn't be thrilling to duel a weakened opponent and the latter because he wouldn't get what he wants if the world was destroyed.
