Jyun Owada is a major antagonist in Persona 5 Strikers. He is a corrupt politician, who is the current Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan. He is also an ally of Masayoshi Shido, and member of the Antisocial Force, a secret collaboration between several corrupt individuals who want to take over Japan.
He is voiced by Ikuya Sawaki in Japan, and by Andrew Morgado in the English dub.
Biography[]
Owada is a 69-year-old man who is on his tenth term serving as a legislator for the National Diet of Japan, and is the Cabinet Secretary, and supported Masayoshi Shido during his campaign. He colluded with Akira Konoe in order to eliminate any political opponents he may face, presumably using EMMA. He also got Konoe to use EMMA to brainwash the Japanese police force into serving him.
Before the events of the game, Owada ran over Aoi Hasegawa, the wife of Zenkichi Hasegawa, while he was drunk, and blamed this murder on his secretary, who was killed not long after. Akane Hasegawa, the daughter of Aoi and Zenkichi, witnessed Owada killing her mother, and then told her father along with the police, leading Zenkichi to investigate his wife's death, but he was removed from the case, with the police force saying that someone who was related to Aoi would have biases that would cloud their judgement, and Zenkichi would later receive a letter that threatend him to cancel his investigation, otherwise his daughter would be killed.
Owada, alongside the brainwashed general of the police agency, bribed Miyako Kaburagi into capturing the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, stating to give her a promotion if she succeeds. After Konoe blames the death of Shuzo Ubukata on the Thieves and frames them for hacking EMMA. Zenkichi gets himself arrested to save the Thieves from Kaburagi and the police force, but the Phantom Thieves later get Sae Niijima to free him. Konoe and EMMA later turn Akane into a Monarch, to bait the Phantom Thieves and capture them in the Kyoto Jail, but are freed thanks to Zenkichi and Futaba Sakura.
After Konoe's heart was stolen by the Phatom Thieves and he made a public confession regarding his crimes, Owada suggests to the police general that they pin all of his crimes on Konoe, making it so his crimes cannot be connected to him, but the general appears to be confused, wondering what he is doing, showing that he snapped out of his brainwashing.
Following the Phantom Thieves defeating EMMA, Zenkichi and Kaburagi arrest Owada for his various crimes, and various suspicions begin to surface that Owada killed his secretary. This mean Zenkichi has avenged his wife, and the Antisocial Force originally run by Shido has been taken down for good.
