Kaato Higashikata is a minor yet key antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part VIII: JoJolion. She is the ex wife of Norisuke Higashikata IV and the mother of Jobin Higashikata, responsible for his current mindset, Later on, she uses the power of the Locacaca to remove the curse of her family. Kaato wields the Stand known as Speed King.

Kaato is a morally skewed figure that will take heinous and drastic actions if it is for the betterment of her family. Given her conversation with her first son Jobin it is heavily implied she was expected to sacrifice her life by taking the rock disease in Jobin's place refusing to keep up the tradition. Despite this she has a deep and genuine love for her children and primarily her first son Jobin often dotting on him throughout the years and was deeply hurt by his eventual demise. When learning that he incapacitated his bully, Kaato used the opportunity to save Jobin and herself from the disease by burying and sacrificing the bullies life justifying it by claiming the bullies life was at the bottom and deserved to sink.
After 15 years of imprisonment Kaato held some resentment toward Norisuke, to the point of demanding financial compensation from him claiming that the families fruit parlor's success was were thanks to her. While genuinely loving toward her children she can be violent if pushed to it, as she retaliated at her second son's Joshu for tripping and undoing her bra by having a chair stab him in the chin. Kaato also appears to look down on those from uncommon backgrounds as she took an immediate dislike to the newly adopted member of the family Josuke calling him a freeloader. Kaato is also sharp as she is aware of Jobin's business ventures with the Locacaca Organization and picks up on Norisuke's body language, informing Jobin that his father and Josuke were likely working against their interests.
Kaato does have a noble side as she eventually abandoned seeking financial compensation and sought with Jobin to utilize the Locacaca to safely transfer away their families disease that currently resided in her grandson. When Jobin was slain by Toru and his Stand, Kaato retaliated by using her stand Space trucking to bind the rock human, and use the Locacaca to transfer her grandson's disease onto him. While Kaato was mortally wounded as a result of this act she thought of her entire family before passing away signifying her love for them.

Kaato was born between 1958-1959, by the time she was 20-21 she met and married Norisuke Higashikata IV having their first child Jobin Higashikata in 1979. In 1991 Kaato realized that Jobin was suffering from the Higashikata families rock disease and had begun losing his memory had received the rock disease that plagues the firstborn of each Higashikata generation and causes his short term memory loss. Unbeknowst to Kaato, Jobin would be heavily bullied in this state by two older classmen that forced him to take pictures of her in the shower and steal some of her undergarments. At night after one of the bullies dragged Jobin to the house of the classmate that reported the bullying and tried to force him to set fire to the denouncer's house, but Jobin refused and critically injured his bully. Kaato was made aware of this and seeing an opportunity to remove the Rock disease from Jobin, took him to their family shrine to bury the bully's body and have an equivalent exchange transfer the disease away to the bully. Five years later Kaato and Norisuke had two more children, but the latter became suspicious that Jobin was seemingly cured of his illness without a sacrifice being preformed. Later the corpse of the bully was found and the DNA evidence was tied back to Kaato, she would then be arrested and sentenced to 15 years in the "Stone Ocean" prison. While Norisuke divorced Kaato, she stayed in contact with Jobin over the years while publicly being a model prisoner.
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure: JoJolion[]
In 2011, Kaato had finished serving out her sentence and called Jobin to pick her up and keep her release as a secret, while she collected her things, and threw away her engagement ring. After arriving back at the Higashikata estate she is reunited with the rest of the family though they are either disturbed or uncertain of her identity. Kaato explained her intentions of wanting to see her children after all the years passed, though admitted that she was hurt by the divorce and the time spent in prison, wanting to be compensated financially. However, when her second son Joshu tripped her and undid her bra with his stand ability, Kaato activated "Space trucking" to hit him with a chair, angered by his behavior. Finally Kaato reinforced that after everything she still loves her family, and wanted them to see that but eventually left as the family refused to engage with her.
The next day Kaato returned and decided to rest on a hammock, where Norisuke confronted her furious by her presecence around the property and for the murder she committed 15 years ago, demanding she leave before storming off. Kaato called Jobin and informed him that Norisuke was hiding something and deduced he and Josuke were conspiring together, likely to find someone that went against their interests.
Later on, following Poor Tom's attack at the estate Kaato meets with Jobin once more at their house recognizing that hes hiding something from her. Jobin reveals that members of the Locacaca Organization will gather to the higashikata estate to look for the Locacaca branch he and his son Tsurugi had stolen and grafted, and is now using that branch to grow New Locacaca fruits. He also reveals to Kaato the equivalent exchange worked on his stag beetles. When Jobin begins thinking of telling Norisuke, Kaato stops and slaps him, telling him that Norisuke will go against their plans of using the equivalent exchange for the betterment of their families survival and that they need to steady their minds offers to hide the Locacaca plant and uses her Stand Space Trucking to place part of it within her cards, she expresses pride in how far Jobin has come, finally telling him to continue growing the plant in order to eventually exchange Tsurugis rock disease.
During the Rock human Toru's attack on the Higshikata estate that kills Jobin in the process, Kaato stores Tsurugi in her cards and confronts Toru while he is mortally injured. Kaato appears before Toru and uses what's left of the Locacaca to exchange Tsurugi Higashikata Rock Disease in attempt to break the curse of the Higashikata family and avenge her son Jobin Higashikata who was slain by Toru, while the exchange ends up killing Toru, his final calamity kills Kaato in the process.
Powers and Abilities[]
Kaato's Stand, Space Trucking, has the ability to store any object or person of any size into a deck of playing cards which act as a sort of boundless space as multiple objects can fit within the cards though it appears to contain air as people can reside within it. It also possesses a humanoid form; A large mechanical figure with a permanent grin and multiple card suits plastered around its body.
