Kabocha is a minor antagonist in the 2021 Roblox story horror game The Mimic, serving as one of the three major antagonists in the Halloween Trials gamemode (alongside Nagemi and Taiyo).
He is a hivemind that has taken control of pumpkins and converted them into his minions, three of which act as the physical threats in the final section of the Halloween Trials, Kabocha's Fields.
Appearance[]
In the current model, Kabocha’s three minions each has different appearances.
Big Silly is the largest, built with massive limbs and a stomach replaced by a writhing pile of soil and skulls. His root-like arms, trunk-like legs, and cracked pumpkin head glowing yellow give him a monstrous presence. Tattered clothes cling to his decaying body.
Skintist bears three merged heads — one grinning with black teeth, one frowning, and one a human skull. Whether they’re still pumpkins is unknown. He carries a barrel on his back filled with severed heads, his trophies from past victims.
Swolist differs from the others, with fewer roots and dark, charred skin. His flaming black pumpkin head reveals a human skull inside, black fire leaking from its hollow mouth like a cursed soul trying to escape.
In his previous model, Kabocha is represented as a bloodcurdling, unnaturally tall and huge masculine entity. For his adornments, his design contains a pumpkin with yellow glowing eyes on his head. Perhaps that's a part of his structure, or perhaps it's simply a mask, covering something underneath, a skull. His figure is seen as he is most likely made out of wood, oddly. He has odd, claw-shaped roots on his hands and feet, almost thinking that he grew in a pumpkin field.
Personality[]
Despite never truly appearing in the Halloween Trials, it is shown that he is highly egotistical and looks down on humans, as shown when he mocks the players for thinking they killed him as in his words, he is immortal and superior to them due to him being a hivemind.
And yet despite his obviously low opinion on humans, he also seems to keep his word in rewarding the players should they complete his trial, though he does initially scoff at the fact that they completed it, saying it was impossible.
Biography[]
Halloween Trials[]
After the players survive the Jigoku Hotel long enough, they are teleported to a farmscape where after a few seconds, three of Kabocha's minions appear and stalk around the fields, trying to find and kill them. According to a paper note inside a shack, players have to create a potion by collecting two eyeballs, two bats, three roses, and one snake, before mixing them together in a cauldron; all while trying to avoid Kabocha's minions. Once a potion is finished, the player who crafted it has to throw it at one of the minions in order to kill it, with players having to repeat two more times (or three when they inevitably wasted a potion due to a jumping bug) in order to kill the other two minions.
Once the last minion is killed, players will be teleported to a small clearing where one of Kabocha's minions will stand. At first, he mocks the players for thinking they killed him as he is "immortal" due to his nature as a hivemind, before rewarding the players for completing his quest with a badge and pumpkin lantern.

Trivia[]
- Players had speculated that Kabocha is based off of the popular Japanese urban legend, the Gashadokuro, though MUCDICH has stated that Kabocha is not based on/inspired by anything. Additionally, the Gashadokuro would later be added to The Mimic in Jealousy's Book: Chapter II.
- Kabocha's name directly translates to "Pumpkin" in English, which makes sense given his minions are pumpkin-themed.
- Kabocha is notoriously looked down by the fanbase in terms of gameplay, as a programming bug causes one of Kabocha's minions to leap into the air when players attempt to throw a potion at them, which results in a potion being wasted and making the round more tedious and longer-lasting.
