Kagemasa Toda is a minor antagonist in the manga/anime series Record of Ragnarok.

Kagemasa is a swordsman assistant instructor of the Seigen’s Dojo, the younger brother of Seigen Toda and the father of Kagekatsu Toda. Kagemasa Toda was also the first to want to chase Kojiro Sasaki out of the Seigen’s Dojo, despite having then supported him during the Ragnarok Tournament.

He is voiced by Patrick Seitz, who has also voiced Adamas always in Record of Ragnarok, Dio Brando in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Cervantes de Leon in Soulcalibur, Scorpion in Mortal Kombat, Endeavor in My Hero Academia, Franky in One Piece, Uvogin in Hunter × Hunter, Dante Zogratis in Black Clover and Garrosh Hellscream in World of Warcraft, in the English dubbed version of the anime adaptation. He is voiced by Akihiro Tajima in the Japanese dub.

Appearance[]

Kagemasa Toda is an elderly Japanese man, with a stocky build, a black beard and silver streaks in his black hair. Kagemasa wears a dark green kimono.

Personality[]

Similar to his son Kagekatsu Toda, Kagemasa values ​​hard work and has contempt for those who don't work hard. He was convinced that Kojiro had no talent for the sword and initially viewed him with disdain, jokingly calling the young Kojiro a "budding merchant" for having hope for his future, but eventually changed his mind after seeing him in the Ragnarok Tournament.

Biography[]

Kagemasa Toda is a man from Japan and the assistant instructor of Seigen's Dojo, the younger brother of Seigen Toda and the father of Kagekatsu Toda. Among the students of the Dojo there is also Kojiro Sasaki, who after withdrawing from a duel with Kagekatsu during training is scolded by him and Kagemasa, who believe he does not have the spirit of a warrior and for this reason they chase him out of the Dojo. Six months later, Kojiro Sasaki returns to the Dojo, forcing Kagekatsu to surrender and challenging Seigen, only to leave and never return.

About four hundred years after his death, during the Ragnarok Tournament, Kagemasa Toda watches the Third Round from the stands together with his relatives, cheering Kojiro Sasaki and rejoicing when the latter manages to win by defeating and killing Poseidon. Kagekatsu Toda also watches the Tenth Round in the stands with his family, watching the duel between Soji Okita and Susano'o no Mikoto and ultimately witnessing the victory of Okita, who manages to defeat and kill Susano'o.

Golden Age: As a Human soul in the Afterlife, Kagemasa possesses the appearance and abilities he had during his Golden Age, the age in which he was at his peak.

Swordsmanship: Since Kagemasa Toda was an assistant instructor at the Seigen’s Dojo, it can be assumed that he possesses some degree of skill in swordsmanship.
