| ~ Kagetane Hiruko |
Kagetane Hiruko is the main antagonist of the first arc of Black Bullet, later becoming a supporting protagonist in the war against Aldebaran.
He is a masked promoter that seeks to obtain the Legacy of the Seven Stars, in order to unleash a powerful Gastrea to cause a war worldwide. It would later be revealed he was a member of the Japanese self-defense force who was kicked out due to him mass murdering the hospital that gave him his powers. Eventually, he changed his name and joined the Civil Security with his daughter but got their license revoked after committing multiple different crimes.
In the series, he takes an interest in Rentaro Satomi and tries to have him join his cause but ultimately fails and gets defeated by getting kicked into the ocean. He survives however, and aided Satomi and Japan in the defeat of the Aldebaran. After the Aldebaran's defeat, Kagetane would look into the sunset with his daughter, ready to restart his plans once more. He is the archenemy of Rentaro Satomi.
History[]
Ten years before the events of the series, he was a member of the Japanese self-defense forces, which ended after he killed everyone related to the goverment hospital where he got his vibranium organs that gave him powerful abilities, to then change his name to Kagetane Hiruko and join the Civil Security as an initiator with his daughter, where after multiple acts of unnecessary violence, got his license removed. He then was hired by Kikunojou Tendo to steal the Legacy of the seven stars, using this opportunity for his own goals.
While looking for the Original Gastrea, Kagetane got the apartment where it attacked for the last, finding two cops that were investigating the attack, because of this, Kagetane ended up killing them brutally just to then be met by Rentaro. Although at the beggining, Rentaro though that he was an ally, Kagetane gleefuly explained how he was in fact who killed the cops, causing their first fight. In the battle, Kagetane didn't took him that seriously, even getting into a call with his daughter as he did, and even killed multiple cops that entered the room and tried to kill him, just to then be surprised by an attack of Rentaro that pretty much snapped his neck, which he calmly snapped back before ending his call. Congratulating Rentaro for the hit, he revealed that he was going to destroy the world, and that no one would be able to stop him, before escaping by the window.
While multiple promoters were in a reunion with Seitenshi, Kagetane made his presence known by mocking her, revealing that he was going to be the one to obtain the Legacy of the Seven Stars, the object that Seitenshi asked the promoters to obtain from the Original Gastrea. He then revealed his daughter, Kohina Hiruko, explaining that she was his initiator, and that both of them were going to obtain that special object, not caring for the lives that they were going to take away. Revealing his abilities thanks to his metallic organs, he leaves a box on the table before leaving, which is revealed to be the decapitated head of the person that didn't got there for the meeting.
Appearing once again from the shadows, Kagetane tries to convince Rentaro to join him in his plans, offering a good quantity of money for it, which Rentaro rejects by shooting it, causing Kagetane and Kohina to leave, not before asking Rentaro if he actually believes that the friends of Enju are even going to accept her for what she is if they knew, revealing that he got that information to be known.
After Rentaro and Enju got to defeat the Original Gastrea, Kagetane appeared just at that moment to steal the case containing the Legacy of the Seven Stars, getting into a fight with both of them while receiving help from Kohina, at the end, he nearly kills Rentaro by crushing him with Maximum Pain and shooting him multiple times, leaving him to die by letting him fall to a river, something that Rentaro ended up surviving barely.
In the final battle, Kagetane and Kohina get into another fight against the protagonists, where Kagetane finally felt pain thanks to the metallic body parts of Rentaro, which got him to like Rentaro even more. After a good battle, Kagetane distracted Rentaro by attacking Enju, just to use an ability that nearly killed him. As Rentaro survived by injecting himself with Gastrea blood to regenerate himself, Kagetane ends up pretty shocked by it, with Rentaro using the opportunity to do a last very powerful punch against him, which broke the barrier and threw Kagetane into the sky, before giving him a poweful kick on the face, breaking his mask and letting him sink in the sea, seemingly killing Kagetane once and for all.
After this events, and getting into a war against Alberadan, Rentaro ended up meeting Kagetane once again, who was leaving outside of this recovering from his wounds with Kohina, deciding to help in the war just for fun and to continue with his plans later on. At the end, he is seen free next to Kohina after the end of the war, looking at the sunset.
