Kalibak is a supervillain who appears in the LEGO DC video games, specifically in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (2014) and LEGO DC Super-Villains (2018).
In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, the voice of Kalibak was provided by Travis Willingham. In LEGO DC Super-Villains, the character was voiced by Michael Dorn, who is also known for voicing Kalibak in the DC Animated Universe shows.
Biography[]
Past[]
Kalibak is the son of Darkseid - the ruler of Apokolips - and the sorceress Suli, whom Darkseid married against the wishes of Queen Heggra. Shortly after Kalibak’s birth, Heggra ordered Desaad, Darkseid’s torturer, to poison Suli. Not long after, Darkseid married Tigra, who gave birth to another son, Orion, who was raised on the peaceful world of New Genesis. From an early age, a rivalry developed between Kalibak and Orion, fueled by Darkseid’s favoritism toward his younger son. Growing up in the harsh environment of Apokolips, Kalibak underwent intense combat training, earning a reputation as a brutal warrior. As an adult, he often served as a secondary military commander under Darkseid’s rule and became known by titles such as "Kalibak the Cruel" and "the Scourge of Apokolips".
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (2014)[]
In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, Kalibak doesn’t play any role in the game’s main story. His presence is limited to being one of many unlockable characters, available for use in Free Roam mode. The Kalibak's character token is located on the planet Nok.
LEGO DC Super-Villains (2018)[]
In LEGO DC Super-Villains, Kalibak plays a more active role, appearing as a supporting antagonist in the main story. He acts as an agent and enforcer of his father, Darkseid, who serves as the ultimate mastermind behind the Crime Syndicate.
Kalibak appears as the boss of Level 12, titled "The One With The T-Rex Mech". The battle takes place on Dinosaur Island, in an arena surrounded by lava. During the fight, Kalibak uses - or is assisted by - a large mech shaped like a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The boss fight unfolds in multiple stages; Kalibak uses aerial attacks and has phases where he’s temporarily invulnerable. Players must dodge his charges and wait for openings to strike, usually right after he lands from a jump attack.
A key moment in the fight involves the player character (the Rookie) absorbing energy which weakens Kalibak and leads to his defeat.
After completing Level 12, Kalibak becomes available for purchase as a playable character in Free Play mode, for a cost of 150,000 studs.
