Kallisca is a major antagonist of the French animated series Tales of Tatonka. He is the leader of his gang, which includes his fellow members Widco and Maslika. But unlike Taima’s renegade wolves, he is less efficient and often reprimands his brothers for their constant quarrels.
Personality[]
Kallisca is the leader of the coyote gang. Being arrogant and sly, he is the most dangerous of his gang and often criticizes his companions, Widco and Maslika, for failing tasks. However, Kallisca is also characterized by his cowardice, quickly cowering and fleeing when threatened by larger animals like Tatonka.

Season 1[]
End of Rainbow[]
Kallisca first appears when he sees Maslika and Widco spotting Cinksi, Wanji, and Yamni. He ask why they aren't waiting for their leader. Widco tries to explain himself in his own way, but Maslika denounces him, claiming that Widco wanted to become leader over his elder. Enraged, Kallisca tackles Widco and demands to know who is the leader between them. Widco then submits. Kallisca starts howling with Maslika, scaring the trio. Seeing that their prey has escaped, Kallisca orders his henchmen to find them. The Three Coyotes eventually trap the trio on the canyon arch. Wahi arrives at that moment, running on a pine cone. Kallisca gives him a swipe, before having fun with his prey by throwing the pine cone into the air. The coyote leader is about to devour Wahi, Moose arrives and push Kallisca off the arch.
Save Tatonka[]
Kallisca and Widco, without Maslika, discovered Tatonka the bison one evening when he was stuck in the mud. Kallisca decided to target him with Widco, deciding to stay near the mud pit all night, waiting for the bison to become weak enough before attacking. The next day, they spotted Wanji, Cinksi, Tap-Tap, Wahi, and Moose trying to help Tatonka. They growled at them, and the youngsters left without the coyotes knowing that Wanji had a plan. The Coyotes tried to attack Tatonka, believing him weak enough for them to attack safely. But when Wahi pretended to be dangerous, Tatonka regained his strength and growled at Kallisca before getting out of the mud. Kallisca and Widco then ran away.
Howling at the Moon[]
One Night, Kallisca hears the wolves cubs howling at the moon, he then has the idea to howl as well so that the wolves cubs thinks the coyotes are also wolves. The Plan work and the coyotes finds the wolves cubs and start chasing them. The wolves cubs and Cinksi seemingly escaped but Kallisca managed to corner Wahi but before the coyotes could try anything Wanji lures them into snakes which scared away the trio.
Delicious but dangerous[]
During the spring, Kallisca and Maslika are looking for food together, when Widco returns to tell them that he couldn't find any food on his own. Kallisca then decides that the coyotes are more interested in acorn trees. Maslika thinks his leader is suggesting that they eat dead leaves, but Kallisca retorts that they are going for easy prey that eat near these trees. Later Kallisca spots Pahin in a tree, but Widco is talking too loudly, and Pahin notices them. The porcupine falls out of the tree after Kallisca scared him with his growls, and the coyotes trio surround their prey, but are scared off by Mato. As they flee Kallisca howl as he leaves the area.
Strange sounds[]
Kallisca appears briefly chasing a hare at the beginning of the episode.
A Terrible Roar[]
Kallisca appears briefly with Widco at the beginning of the episode and scares Moose into thinking they are the renegade wolves, but when it turns out they are the two coyotes, things calm down. The coyotes leave, unable to attack the moose herd.
A Taste of freedom[]
At the end of winter, Kallisca and his followers try to catch a bird but fail. Later, they hear Poum and Wahi laughing, and Kallisca decides to follow them. They eventually come across Wanji and Cinksi, and Kallisca mocks them as they prepare to attack, but Wanji bluff them by saying they might call the pack. Kallisca doesn't believe him, but recognizing the risk, decides to leave them alone and fall back on Poum and Wahi. At night, the coyotes attack the bear cub and the squirrel, but are scared off by Mato again.
The Nights of Shooting Stars[]
One night, Kallisca and his followers venture into Tork's territory and find the wolf cubs Wahi and Poum in the mountains. They target them. Their presence frightens Luta and Ska. But they hear a cry resembling that of a puma, believing it to be Tork. Maslika suggests they leave, and Kallisca tells the wolf cubs that they will see each other again before leaving.
Season 2[]
A Great Danger[]
During the prairie fire, Kallisca and his followers flee the flames. At one point, he becomes separated from Widco and Maslika but eventually rejoins them at the waterfall as they corner Luta and Ska. But as the coyotes decide who eats what, Wanji appears and impersonates Wicasa with his shadow, calling the pack. As Maslika and Widco leave, Kallisca realizes the deception but is quickly outnumbered and repelled by Akewanji, Wicasa, and Tatonka.
Drought[]
During the drought, Kallisca and his gang go to the lake to drink. After he interrupted an argument between Maslika and Widco, he declares that as he is the leader, he drinks first, but the three coyotes see Tork arriving at the lake and flee in fear.

Trivia[]
- The name "Kallisca" doesn’t have a direct Lakota equivalent but is a stylized variation of "Kaliska" from Algonquian languages, meaning "coyote chasing deer".
- In "End of Rainbow," Kallisca is pushed from the arch by Moose, and then reappears in other episodes, as the show is aimed at a younger audience and does not show any characters dying. However, Kallisca should have technically died from the fall given the height and the sounds he makes as he falls through the trees.
- Kallisca is the only antagonist of the show (alongside Luta and Ska) to call one of the protagonist by his name. As in the original French dub of "A Taste of Freedom" he calls Wanji by his name.
- Kallisca and Widco are the only antagonist in the series to directly target Tatonka.
