~ Kamoshidaman

Kamoshidaman is a minor antagonist in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. He is an artificial being created from the Phantom Thieves' memories of Suguru Kamoshida, an old superhero movie and Hikari's abusive primary school teacher.

Biography[]

When Hikari, a major protagonist in Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth. When Hikari was very young, she thought teachers were like superheroes due to a SuperHero film she saw when was young. But when Hikari reached elementary school, this would change.

"Kamoshidaman's trailer.

In elementary school, Hikari's class had a pet rabbit. The arrogant teacher of the class insisted on feeding the rabbit sugary carrots instead of healthy vegetables as Hikari suggested. Eventually, the rabbit died of food poisoning, but the teacher chose to put the blame on Hikari, humiliating her in front of the entire class. This resulted in Hikari being ostracized even after being apologizing. As a result, Hikari was traumatized and grew to mistrust authority figures, especially teachers.

When the Phantom Thieves entered the Cinema, representing Hikari's subconscious, Hikari's trauma caused by her abusive teacher combined with the Superhero movie she saw and the Phantom Thieves' own trauma of the similarly abusive teacher, Suguru Kamoshida to create the KamoshidaMan film starring a self righteous Super hero who alone decides what justice is and rules Kamocity (named after himself) like a tyrant.

The film's trailer showed Kamoshidaman assuming his secret identity in revolving doors to take out a burglar, but causing collateral damage including hospitalizing a man buying a toy rabbit for his daughter. The man's young daughter tried to speak up as Kamoshidaman celebrated with a crowd, but was too afraid to speak up with everyone ignoring her father's plight.

When the Phantom Thieves enter the movie, Makoto and Haru are captured by Kamoshidaman when they mistake him for the real Kamoshida. Kamoshidaman labels them "criminals" and announces on the news his plans to publicly execute them and passes out wanted posters of the rest of the Phantoms as the citizens of Kamo City praise him.

The Phantom Thieves eventually meet Kamoshidaman in the square after taking care of his sidekicks, Chicken Kid and Buster Girl. Kamoshidaman, when questioned about whether about the justice of putting Makoto and Haru to death, arrogantly claims superheroes alone decide what justice is. When the Thieves face Kamoshidaman in battle, they find him to be invincible and seemingly impervious to all harm, forcing them to flee.

However the Phantom Thieves figure out, the Golden Statue of Kamoshidaman in the Kamocity square, which is worshipped like an idol, is the source of Kamoshidaman's power. They successful steal away the statue before Kamoshidaman can perform the execution, removing Kamo City's power, allowing Makoto and Haru to escape.

Kamoshidaman then faces the thieves in battle, however without his statue, he is easily defeated, at this point the citizens of Kamocity began to express their own doubts about Kamoshidaman's "justice." However Kamoshidaman reveals his secret weapons, a pair of carrots, which he bites into to become Super Kamoshidaman, which resembles a massive rabbit version of himself.

Though Super Kamoshidaman proves a tough opponent, he is ultimately defeated and has a breakdown, wondering if maybe his justice wasn't right after all, then leaves the city. The citizens of Kamocity express relief that Kamoshidaman can no longer be the sole judge and jury of the city.

Near the end of the game, the negative film creates black and white clones of the game's bosses, including a Kamoshidaman clone, who like the original declares that its rule is true justice. This apparition like the others, are defeated by the Phantom Thieves.

Near the end of the game, new footage of the Kamoshidaman film is shown where Kamoshidaman realizes imposing justice on everyone made him the true villain, his superpowers go to his head and that no one person should decide what justice is. He then resolves to use his powers responsibly and always put the well being of the people first.

He is glimpsed again in the credits, helping an old lady cross the street whilst several citizens of the city, including the now recovered father Kamoshidaman injured earlier, happily watching. This along with the other new movie endings, signifies Hikari getting over her trauma.

Appearance[]

Kamoshidaman resembles a cross between Suguru Kamoshida and Superman, as such he is much more muscular than his inspiration and has the letter K on his chest for Kamoshidaman. His boots resemble a Rabbit's feet, referring to the traumatic incident with Hikari's school.

When he bites into his super carrot, Kamoshidaman becomes Super Kamoshidaman. Super Kamoshidaman appears as a monstrous humanoid rabbit with carrot rocket launchers and is even more berserk then his regular form.

His secret identity, briefly seen in the trailer, resembles a cartoonish version of Suguru Kamoshida.

Personality[]

Kamoshidaman

Kamoshidaman was a vain and selfish bully, labeling anyone who opposes him as an evil villain. He acts as the city's dictator and makes its citizens worship him like an idol. Whilst he does stop real criminals, his actions cause more destruction and misery than the actual crime did, such as reacting to a burglary by throwing the thief at a father, severely injuring the man in front of his daughter, all of which Kamoshidaman ignored.

After being defeated, Kamoshidaman releases the city and vows to use his powers for good, with the ending credits indicating he kept his word.

Trivia[]

  • Whilst based on Suguru Kamoshida, Kamoshidaman is a separate individual. Notably he isn't a sexual predator, doesn't recognize Ann Takamaki or Ryuji Sakamoto, and makes a genuine effort to redeem himself after his defeat instead of being mind controlled into doing so like the real Kamoshida.
  • Whilst not directly stated, it is heavily presumed Kamoshidaman's secret identity is named "Kamoshida", like his inspiration.
  • It is also possible Kamoshidaman is a teacher in his secret identity, like his real life inspirations, especially given the movie Hikari liked as a kid had a superhero with a teacher as a secret identity.
  • Early materials reveal Super Kamoshidaman was originally going to be dressed like a Playboy Bunny, however in the final game he wears a spandex with no pants.
  • Super Kamoshidaman is often considered to be one of the hardest bosses of the game by the fandom.
