Captain America: Who are you? Why are you attacking the Avengers? Kang: Oh, not the Avengers, Captain. You. As for your questions, I am Kang the Conqueror. I have come from the 41st century, traveling to this backwater time period for one simple reason. To eliminate you from the timeline.

He is a time-travelling conqueror from the 41st century intent on eliminating Captain America and conquering the 21st century Earth to save his timeline and his lover Ravonna after she nearly dies when their reality was wiped from existence.
Kang the Conqueror was the ruler of the 41st century, but a disruption in the space-time continuum caused his future to be wiped from existence due to humanity being destroyed during the Kree-Skrull war in the early 21st century. He traces the disruption to Captain America, believing his presence to be responsible for the destruction of Earth. As his timeline is being wiped out, he orders his fleet to jump Damocles ship to the 21st century so he can conquer it and eliminate Captain America. His lover, Princess Ravonna, is caught in the disruption and experiences time dissolution which has put her into a coma and is slowly killing her. Determined to save Ravonna and his timeline, Kang begins his conquest of the 21st century.
Kang then attacks the Avengers Mansion and reveals he has come to eliminate Captain America to save his timeline. The Avengers try to stop him but Kang easily takes them out and shows them a future where humanity has been wiped out and Earth is left a wasteland. He tells the Avengers about the Kree-Skrull war and how Captain America's actions in the 21st Century resulted in the sun and all life on Earth being causalities in the war. The Avengers don't believe him and tells them his plans to conquer Earth and prepare it's military and advance it's technology so that it can withstand the Kree-Skrull war, and he threatens the Avengers to hand over Captain America and not to go against him. Iron Man considers handing over Captain America and allowing Kang to conquer Earth, believing that he could be the world's only hope, but seeing his arrogance, he orders his Avengers to take him down. Kang attempts to leave them trapped in the future but is suddenly attacked by cockroaches summoned by Ant-Man. Iron Man attempts to use Kang's chair to take everyone back home while the rest of the Avengers distract and hold off Kang, but JARVIS cannot recognize the technology in Iron Man's chair and eventually Kang finds Iron Man in his chair and approaches him. Just as Kang fights through the Avengers, Iron Man discovers that Kang's chair is based on his own Stark Industries technology and sends everyone back to the present day. Kang foolishly tries to attack him but is shocked by his own chair's force field and then electrocuted by Thor's hammer.
Refusing to surrender, Kang falls back to Damocles ship where he launches a full-scale invasion of Earth, deploying his ships across the entire world that launch giant scarabs that begin conquering the planet and possibly killing most people on it. He reveals himself to Iron Man and Thor being behind the invasion as his scarabs self-repair and new scarabs are deployed. The United Nations, S.H.I.E.L.D., and even The Avengers are overwhelmed by Kang's army of scarabs, and cities across the world have fallen and are surrendering to Kang. Iron Man tries to find Damocles ship but to no avail and starts to break down while Ant-Man reprograms Ultron to help fight Kang (Ultron would later turn evil because of this). The Avengers soon figure out how to shut down Kang's ships and scarabs and save New York City and Iron Man finds Damocles. Unfortunately, Kang has already taken over 75% of the planet with more cities falling by the minute.
Kang then fires Damocles' powerful weapon at the Avengers Mansion, which would have destroyed much of New York City, but Thor blocks and deflects the weapon back to the ship and nearly dies. Kang then sends more scarabs to attack the Avengers who break into Damocles. While Wasp is trying to find Kang himself, she discovers Princess Ravonna and is told that she is a victim of the destruction of her timeline and is dying. The rest of the Avengers fight Kang himself and Ultron nearly sends Damocles back to the 41st century before being stopped by Wasp, who reveals that Princess Ravonna will die if they send Damocles back. Kang orders his men to shoot her, but they refuse and let her explain to the Avengers that Ravonna was nearly wiped out from existence. The Avengers offer to help Kang save Ravonna if he surrenders, but he refuses to make a compromise and is taken out in one hit.
Kang is arrested and sent to 42, where he warns Iron Man and Captain America that the latter will betray the world and an even worse invasion will begin. Damocles is seized by S.H.I.E.L.D. and becomes the new headquarters of S.W.O.R.D., and Ravonna is taken under the care of Reed Richards and and Hank.
In the episode "New Avengers", Kang, who is now imprisoned in Hydro-Base after 42 was abandoned, is freed by the Council of Kangs, who give him a new set of armor and order him to destroy the Avengers. He turns Iron Man's arc reactor into a time machine, erases the Avengers from existence, and begins bringing his empire to the present while breaking time. He is defeated by a new team of Avengers who shut down his time machine and bring back the Avengers. Kang, now trapped inside his time machine, fades away, seemingly erased from existence. It's unknown what happened to him afterwards.
Kang's final appearance is in a flashback in "Operation Galactic Storm" when the Kree attempt to create a wormhole that will rip apart the sun, just as he predicted. It's revealed that Captain America would have doomed Earth by trying to save Black Panther instead of going after the wormhole. When Iron Man reminds Captain America of this, and that if the wormhole isn't shut down, the Sun will be torn apart, Captain America leaves Black Panther to die.
Appearance[]
His look is virtually identical to that of his mainstream counterpart, but trimmed. He does not appear human even without the helmet.
Personality[]
Kang, who considers himself to be the Earth's proper ruler and views the people of the 21st century as little more than "primitive," is selfish and vicious. He is prepared to go to any lengths to achieve his objectives, including launching a full-scale attack on Earth in the year 2100 to make sure it can fend off the Kree and the Skrull. He does, however, possess a sensitive side and appears to really care about his wife, Ravonna.
