Kanjar-Ro is a minor antagonist in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He is a space pirate who travels to different planets to conquer them. He is also Blue Beetle’s archenemy.

Biography[]

Background[]

Every season, Kanjar-Ro visited a planet home to the Gibbles race to abduct them and steal their energy to fuel his spaceship and travel to across the universe in pursuit of conquest. However, he found himself in conflict with the Blue Beetle as a result. They fought many times until Kanjar-Ro used a weapon named the Gamma Gong to strip the Blue Beetle of the scarab and kill him. Kanjar continued with his plan to abduct and steal the Gibbles' energy uninterrupted while the Blue Scarab looked for a new host, who would eventually be Jamie Reyes.

Rise of the Blue Beetle![]

He is once again on a campaign to abduct the Gibbles' energy to fuel his ship. However, an army of Gibbles arrived in his ship along with a new Blue Beetle and Batman to stop him, much to his surprise that the former is here. After he was beaten by the Blue Beetle, he retreated to another room in the spaceship to get the Gamma Gong. He battled Blue Beetle, and he used the Gamma Gong to injured the latter. He learned that the latest Blue Beetle was a kid, and learned that he did indeed killed the last one. He abducted Jamie Reyes, and he captured Batman and Gibbles' army to restrain them to a small ship to leave them to be eaten by those space creatures. He restrained Jamie to use the gong to painfully separate the Blue Scarab from Jamie to get that scarab, so he can use it for himself to be powerful. Batman and Gibbles' army managed to escape, after the former help the latters learned to stand up towards invaders. Jamie managed to release those restraints, and he used the Gamma Gong to force Kanjar-Ro to separate the Blue Scarab from the latter. Kanjar-Ro was defeated, and Jamie regained his Blue Scarab.

The Super-Batman of Planet X![]

In the teaser, he and his crew are trading with Matches Malone and his unnamed partner, actually Batman and Dr. Magnus in disguise respectively. Kanjar-Ro finds Magus to be suspicious, with his suspicions confirmed when Magus incorrectly states the number of moons that Cygnus IV has, prompting Batman to reveal himself. Kanjar and his crew attempt to fend them off, but are caught unawares by most of Dr. Magnus' items and parts of his outfit really being the Metal Men in disguise, resulting in their defeat and capture.

Night of the Batmen![]

At an unnamed planet, he sends several drones and robots to distract, Batman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Captain Marvel. While he is in a ship ready to use the Negaton bomb to blow up a planet. However Martian Manhunter disguised as one his crew manages to stop him. Regardless, Kanjar-Ro successfully actives the bomb. After all the robots were defeated, Batman sends the bomb up to space to prevent it from blowing up a planet, but Batman got injured in the process after detonation, which put in out of commission for a while.

Four Star Spectacular![]

In one of the four shorts, Kanjar-Ro and his crew are in an unnamed planet to test out the Zeta-Bean, which transports several random objects to this planet, one of which includes Adam Strange, who was suppose to return to Rann with an anniversary gift for his wife. Kanjar-Ro reveals his plan is to send a Negaton bomb using a Zeta-Bean to blow up planet Rann. However, each time Kanjar-Ro uses the bean, it sends them to a random planet, one of which reaches Earth, where they had a short encounter with Batman. Kanjar-Ro nearly give up his plan until he finally reaches Rann. Kanjar-Ro actives the bomb revealing that once Rann is blown up, he plans to take the Zeta-Bean energy to conquer the universe. Adam Strange stops Kanjar-Ro from blowing up Rann by taking the latter's energy rod to transport to a different planet with him as well. Kanjar-Ro panic and deactivate the bomb before he encounters a giant alien, who is ready to devour him.
