Kanye Omari "Ye" West (born: June 8, 1977) is the main antagonist of the episode "Fishsticks" from Season Thirteen of South Park, he is a parodied version of the real life rapper, musician, record producer, and fashion designer of the same name.
He was voiced by co-creator Trey Parker, who also voiced Eric Cartman and many other characters in the same series, as well as Kim Jong-il in Team America: World Police and Balthazar Bratt in Despicable Me 3.
Background[]
When Eric Cartman visits Jimmy Valmer's house, he asks Jimmy for some food, to which he replies by saying how there's food in the freezer. This causes Jimmy to come up with a joke that goes: "Do you like fish sticks?" "Yeah." "You like to put fish sticks in your mouth?" "Yeah." "What are you a gay fish?". The joke spreads and becomes very popular, eventually causing celebrities to make that joke on live television. Despite it's immense popularity, the joke's creator remains unknown for them. Due to Cartman's delusions, he believes that he created the entire joke and Jimmy had little to no involvement in it.
As the joke has risen to celebrity culture, Kanye West is the only person who dosen't get it, and he assumes it's a rumor spread by people that think he actually is a gay fish, this causes him to get offended every time someone makes that joke to him. When a talk show host interviews him about it, he is shown responding violently, claiming that he can't be a gay fish cause he is "the most talented musician in the world", when the talk show host tries to explain it, Kanye assaults him by pushing him off his chair. In order to put a stop to these "rumors", Kanye gets a doctor to inspect his neck in front of a large crowd to prove he has no gills and he isn't a gay fish. With everybody seeing how ridiculous the situation is, they continue to make the joke. When Kanye goes to premiere at a live concert, he sees everybody jokingly cheering him on as a gay fish, disgruntled because of this, he walks off stage.
Later in his mansion, he still struggles to figure out the meaning of the joke. It is then show that he has a crew who works for him (all of which are based on those he posed with for Paris Fashion Week 2009), they were commanded by him to track down the one who made the joke. Said person tracked down is comedian Carlos Mencia, who, being insecure for being unfunny, claimed that he created the joke. Kanye and his crew then arrive at Mencia's house, tying him up and interrogating him. Mencia then admits that he stole the joke and tries to convince Kanye that he didn't make it, but to no avail. Kanye then commands his crew to beat him with bats, breaking his bones and causing him to bleed out in various places, he then get's nearly decapitated by Kanye when his head gets hit by his wooden bat, killing him. Afterwards, they then shove fish sticks down his neckhole.
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cartman and Jimmy finally become known as the creator of the joke, however, Cartman takes most of the credit. When this is revealed, Kanye and his crew travel to South Park to track them down. At the Valmer residence, Cartman and Jimmy get into a dispute over who made the joke, before Kanye and his crew break into the house and tie them up. Cartman continues to delusionally believe that he made the joke, to the point where he believes that Jimmy is the egoist who took all the credit, and that he is the one who's ego caused him to remember things differently, he goes on a speech about this saying how ego's make people unacceptable to accept facts, and apologizes to Jimmy, believing that he has an incurable ego that makes him think differently, Jimmy believes what Cartman is saying, and thanks him for being understanding. Kanye listens to Cartman's speech and has a change of heart, he then tells his crew to untie them and let them go, to which they do.
Despite his change of heart, he still dosen't get the joke and takes it seriously, and instead believes he's actually a gay fish and that he wasn't believing the "rumors" stating who he truly is. He embraces this by jumping off a dock while in fish-esque attire, making out with the fish underwater.
He appears again in the Season Seventeen episode "The Hobbit", when after Wendy Testaburger compares Kim Kardashian's body to that of a hobbit, Butters Stotch calls her to Mr. Mackey's office regarding this comment. This causes Kanye West (who was Kim Kardashian's fiancé at the time), to speak in Mr. Garrison's class to convince them that she's not a hobbit, as he tries to make this argument, he mentions her many attributes she shares with hobbits. Following this, Kanye continues to feel the need to clarify that she's not a hobbit, by going to the Time magazine Person Of The Year award presentation to interrupt the ceremony to say that, as well as making a music video to state she isn't. Every time he tries to say that she's not a hobbit, he has to call her several times to clarify. Later, he breaks into Wendy's house at night and wakes her up, reading her a bedtime story about a hobbit girl who found out that only photoshop could make her beautiful, and because of this, she became famous and known by everyone, and then a "Jelly Monster" came, insulted her, and took away the ability of photoshop, revealing the truth that she's a hobbit, the hobbit's fiance then didn't care for the fact that she was a hobbit and accepted her. Said story served as a clear metaphor for what Kim Kardashian was going through, with the Jelly Monster being a representation of Wendy. The next day, this story causes Wendy to edit pictures to make her appear attractive via photoshop as tears drip down her eyes, with her mass emailing them and living the computer lab in a solemn manner.
Kanye has a non-antagonistic role in South Park: The Fractured But Whole where, in a surreal manner, he is depicted as a literal gay fish who needs help getting his deceased mother, Donda West, into Heaven, and so he, Seaman, and The New Kid fly into Valhalla by grabbing on his fin. After the minigame is completed, Donda successfully enters Heaven while riding on a unicorn. He also makes cameo appearances in the Season Fourteen episodes "200" and "201", appearing as one of the many celebrities part of the Legion of Doom attempting to sue South Park, as well as making another cameo at the end of the Season Twenty-Four Episode "South ParQ Vaccination Special", appearing as one of the many characters from the past seasons celebrating the end of the pandemic.

Trivia[]
- In real life, Kanye responded to South Park in his song "Gorgeous", with the line "Choke a South Park writer with a fishstick."
- According to the DVD Commentary, the idea for the episode "Fishsticks" was conceived when Matt Stone and Trey Parker had an idea about a salmon dressed as Evil Knievel after seeing a salmon jump at writer's retreat in Seattle and drew comparisions to this and Kanye West's video "Touch The Sky", which depicted Kanye jumping the Grand Canyon dressed as Evil Knievel.
- Although he dosen't appear, his controversies regarding his Antisemitism are alluded to in the Season 26 episode "Cupid Ye", where Cupid Me, Eric Cartman's imaginary friend, has become a very religious Christian and began preaching him antisemitic beliefs under the new name Cupid Ye, such as telling him how the Jews run Hollywood and have stolen the identity of black people. Cupid Ye serves as the episode's parody of Kanye, during a scene in the episode, Cartman, while wearing a black mask, is seen being interviewed on the Infowars set trying to explain how Jews control the world, parodying Kanye's infamous appearance on the set where he explained his love for Hitler and the Nazi's. During the episode's climax, Cupid Ye begins shooting bows into the students of South Park Elementary, causing them to turn antisemitic, and he is defeated when Cartman gives him his medications, causing him to revert back to normal.
- Originally, in the deleted ending of the episode "Fishsticks", Kanye was growing to drown to death after the "Gay Fish" song, with the coast guards then retrieving his bloated dead body.
