Kappa is the overarching antagonist of the Black Mirror episode "Beyond the Sea". He is the leader of a cult of hippies that attacks David Ross and his family, kick starting the episode.

He was portrayed by Rory Culkin, who also played Charlie Walker in Scream 4 and Euronymous in Lords of Chaos.

Personality

For his brief appearance, we see that Kappa is a psychotic technology-hating individual, who attacks David and his family due to David being an Astronaut with a clone on Earth. He shows disdain to David’s wife for lying in bed with David’s clone and decides that his family should pay for David having a clone for Earth, leading to them slaughtering David’s family, and he proceeds to force him to watch, showing sadism at the thought of David screaming all the way in space.

Biography

During the middle of the night, David hears something in his home and he comes downstairs with a baseball bat, and he discovers Kappa and his three cult members in his home. Kappa introduces himself and taunts David before having his men attack him, before cutting off his hand and knocking him out.

When David comes back to his digital clone, he finds himself tied up and his family surrounded by the cult of 5. When David’s wife attempts to reason, saying they are human, Kappa agrees but says that since she is lying in bed with a robot, decides she needs to die too, before forcing David to watch as he brutally murders his wife and two young kids, before he sets David’s robotic clone on fire, completely destroying it beyond repair, before Kappa and his cult turn themselves in.
