Karai is a major antagonist in the 2007 animated superhero film TMNT.
She is the Shredder's adoptive daughter who started to work for Max Winters after Shredder's death, she is also the leader of the Foot Clan.
She was voiced by Zhang Ziyi.
Biography[]
Karai is the current leader of the Foot Clan, having come to taken it over after Shredder's death at some point in the past. She is also presumed to be the adoptive daughter of The Shredder, as most versions of her are. She first appears in the film proper Max Winters' building after Max's meeting with April O'Neil and Casey Jones is finished; Max hires her to watch over the city so that Max can bring his plan to fruition. However, she wasn't thrilled about finding out that this would involve her having to hunt down monsters.
Later on, Karai and the rest of the Foot Clan would end up battling with the Turtles; the two sides would end up finding out that Winters was actually an immortal named Yaotl who was previously part of the Stone Generals, who set all of this up so that he could get rid of the immortality curse he and the rest of the Stone Generals got in the past. However, the rest of the Stone Generals betrayed Winters, intending to conquer the entire Earth. The Stone Generals would end up offering Karai and the Foot Clan the chance to join them, but she refuses, intending to honor her contract with Winters.
Karai and the Foot Clan would end up helping the Turtles fend off the Stone Generals, at the end of the film the leave peacefully but Karai gives a warning that "soon we will have further business together; the kind that involves familiar faces from your past". Hinting at The Shredder's return.

- Karai was planned to return in the sequel to the film, presumably helping with Shredder's return as she hinted at, at the end of the film. However, the sequel ended up being cancelled.
