Biography[]
Karloff was once the best scarer, but he despised the laughter of not only children, but monsters as well. He desires making children’s dreams a living nightmare. Rumors say that the ghost of Karloff the Screamer roams the floor, looking for victims to kidnap. When his victims start laughing, they disappear after the lights flash.
When Mike and Sulley are leading a morale boosting company retreat in a haunted basement, they start laughing, then suddenly disappear after a flash of lights. Believing the Shrieker is behind it, everyone panics, especially when they find themselves locked out. Fritz decides to try to get the entry door so they can get out, but the only working door they find is the exile door that leads to the Sahara Desert. Tylor suggests they set a trap to catch the Shrieker, which Val takes on by giving everyone a play-by-play of the plan.
Val tries to make everyone laugh in order to lure the Shrieker. To make it convincing, he reminds everyone of the vending machine incident, which successfully draws Shrieker. The door trap doesn't fall as it should, forcing Tylor to manually drop it on the creature. To everyone's surprise, the monster is revealed to be an elaborate costume worn by Mike and Sulley, who congratulate the group on their collaboration.
As they all leave, Mike congratulates Sulley on the effects he used, though Sulley is confused by the scratches from earlier. A red light begins to glow from the staff's door, indicating that the Shrieker is real.
