Kate is the vampire mate of Luther and the secondary antagonist in the Season 1 episode "Dead Man's Blood" of Supernatural.
She was portrayed by Anne Openshaw, who also played Vanessa Webber in Smallville.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Kate's past was unknown but at some point she met Luther who turned her into a vampire and became immortal lovers. Tragically, a vampire hunter named Daniel Elkins found and killed Luther's entire family but failed to find him or Kate. Luther chose not to go after Elkins to keep a low profile, but Kate swore vengeance against the hunter.
Season One[]
Kate, Beau and other members of Luther's pack found Elkins at a bar in Manning, Colorado where he was scribbling in his journal while drinking Jack. The bartender Beth asked them what they wanted and Kate answered her Jack for everyone, she also asked her whether they were hungry but the woman answered that they had dinner plans.
Elkins noticed the group and left in a hurry back to his cabin in the woods. Kate and the others ambushed Elkins in his house where he attempted to use an old 5 shot Colt. He attempts to load the gun, but was too late, and is killed by Kate and the vampires. During this time, the vampires stole the Colt from him. Kate, Beau and other vampires later ambushed a couple driving on a road and took them captive to their lair as their next meal. When Luther returned to the compound, Kate told him what she did and presented a gift from Elkins, the colt.
Horrified that she killed the old man, even if it was to avenge his family, Luther said Elkins was a hunter and others would come after them now. But Kate claimed she did for him and Luther reluctantly forgave her. Elkins' murder drew the attention of hunters John, Sam and Dean Winchester who started looking for Luther's nest. Meanwhile at the vampire lair, Jenny and her boyfriend were tied to a post. Luther and his vampires ate her boyfriend but kept Jenny alive.
Luther and Kate made out with each other while Jenny looked at them intrigued. Amused by her watching them, Luther cuts Kate's hand open with a knife and Kate feeds Jenny her blood through a kiss, turning Jenny into a vampire herself. Later, when the Winchesters raid the vampire nest to get the Colt, Sam attempts to free Jenny, unaware that she is now a vampire. Her shrieks wake up the nest, Luther and Kate.
