Prime Minister Katsuji Kamiya, or also known as Katsuji Kamiya is the overarching antagonist of the 2005 neo-noir dark fantasy crime anime Speed Grapher. He is the corrupt and selfish Prime Minister of Japan, heavily involved with the hedonistic and secret Roppongi Club and seeks to take control of it for his own purposes from Choji Suitengu, being an Euphoric whose fixation on food and eating give shim the ability to mutate into a huge head-creature with acidic saliva, so he could eat anything he pleases.
He is also the arch-nemesis of the main antagonist, Choji Suitengu, as he is the one who is personally responsible for ruining his life by causing his parents to commit suicide after he gets them into huge criminal debt, then selling his sister into sex slavery and cruelly sending him away as a child soldier, being responsible for his descent into villainy and his plan of sending all of society and the rest of the corrupt elite into chaos and destruction as a result.
He is voiced by Takehiro Koyama in Japanese and John Swasey in English, whose also known for voicing All For One from My Hero Academia.
Personality[]
Katsuji Kamiya is the embodiment of greed and corruption in the storyline, as he is a cruel, self-absorbed and repulsive individual who is responsible for allowing all of Japan to suffer for his own selfish and disgusting purposes. He is also the text book of a sociopath, as he displays a lack of utter remorse and disgustingly lies all the time for his own purposes, even expressing complete self-interest in his own twisted pleasure and when confronted by Suitengu, even shows himself to be a utterly complete coward as he begs for him to spare him by offering information for his sister, leading to Suitengu to brutally kill him in revenge for his crimes.
Biography[]
It is unknown how he came to power, but it is implied to be through unethical and corrupt means, like bribery, but when he came into power as Prime Minister, he ended up causing all of Japan to become corrupt with sleazy corrupt officials living in the city as he abused his position of power for his own greedy purposes. Long ago, he came across a family which he drove into commiting suicide over a large debt they owed him, selling the children as "compensation", who would be Suitengu and his own sister, being the one who sent the boy to become a child soldier who would end up being killed and restored to earn himself his own Euphoric power and while the sister was sent into sex slavery, causing her to become a broken shell of a person.
Having his power as a Euphoric, he would become a glutton who would be able to eat whatever he wants, becoming a member of the Roppongi Club and planning to use his resources to seize control of it from Choji, and later on in the episodes of the anime sends his minions to kidnap Kagura Tennozu for his own plans of having her dine as he talks about himself, eventually restoring to trying to eat her. When in the mansion he is with the rest of his conspirators, he plotted to enact his plan of taking over the Roppongi Club for his own desires, but Coji came in and killed all of them, even revealing to the corrupt Minister his true backstory and what he had done to him, with Katsuji begging to be spared, but Choji brutally slaughtered him as well, giving the repulsive hedonist a well-deserved death for his personally disgusting crimes.
