“ | Katsuo here. I heard about your mom. I could offer my sympathies, but I find it hard to sympathize. God only knows what she had to endure to send her delinquent son to an Academy he doesn't belong at. Her methods couldn't have been noble if she died in a car accident. So mundane. But you know? Karma. There's a lesson in this, David. Your mother tried to live beyond her means and died. Don't make the same mistake. Drop out, Martinez. Do that, and maybe her death won’t be in vain. | „ |

Biography[]
During one day at school, David's outdated braindance wreath spiked the rest of his class due to a faulty software update, angering Katsuo. The next morning, Tanaka and his friends ambush David. They take David to a back-alley, where Tanaka verbally antagonizes him, then beats him up with a martial arts chip. Later that day, Katsuo calls David and mocks him about his mother's death. Katsuo's bullying would be the inspiration for David Martinez to implant himself with the black market Sandevistan he found among his mother's things. The next day, David confronts Katsuo at Arasaka Academy with the intent to beat up Katsuo using his recently installed Sandevistan. Katsuo uses his martial arts chip on David again, but he is easily countered by David and he punches Katsuo into a wall, breaking his nose. Due to David's high compatibility with it, Katsuo's father would try to make David go back to the Academy so they could use him as a test subject for cyberware. The plan was to offer him a free scholarship, however David would refuse their offer. David would work on the assumption that Katsuo was out for revenge, rejecting all of Arasaka's Academy's offers for reinstatement on the assumption that they were part of a revenge plot by Katsuo. He is never shown again afterwards, but his father mentions that he was discharged from the hospital after David’s assault.
