Kazuharu Fukuyama is the main antagonist of the anime and manga series Girls Bravo.
He was voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu in Japanese and Liam O'Brien in English.
Biography[]
He is one of the series' main characters and commonly acts as a de facto antagonist since several episodes involve Yukinari, Miharu, and Kirie trying to overcome the plots that Fukuyama sets up to get something out of them (most commonly sexual favor from Kirie).
He is considerably perverted and goes to great extents and great expenses to get close and do perverted things to Miharu and Kirie, particularly the latter. He has been known to organize catfight tournaments, using black magic and several other schemes to get to see Kirie nude, only succeeding once in a plot involving a complex board game tournament, which resulted in Kirie losing and having to give him a sponge bath with her breasts. he has a deep obsession with Kirie's breasts, to the point that he keeps a shrine to them in his closet.
Fukuyama usually antagonizes Yukinari. He first debuted in the second episode when he first learned about Miharu, who came to Earth, and her presence at his school. He becomes crazily excited and sweeps her from her feet, rushing over to every girl's bathroom to show Miharu, puzzling her with who he is. When Yukinari tried to save Miharu from him, Fukuyama fooled Yukinari into opening the girl's lockerroom, who believed they were in there, only to be beaten up by girls who were changing before Yukinari saw them. Fukuyama then appeared before Kirie, who was watching Yukinari get beaten up, telling her Yukinari is a public enemy to womanhood. When Kirie was about to strike him, Fukuyama pushed her aside and knocked her unconscious. Miharu worries about Yukinari, but Fukuyama tells her to forget about Yukinari and to stick with him in his perverted wonderland. He then began laughing maniacally until Miharu caused an explosion, knocking out Fukuyama and the girls beating up Yukinari. As Fukuyama wakes up shortly after, he comes face to face with an angry Kirie, much to his horror. He tried to apologize to her, but Kirie punches him into the boy's locker room, where the boys beat him up for appearing before them while changing.
He tries to do kinky things to Koyomi, but Kirie usually stops him by hitting him over the head.
Despite all this, he not such a bad guy. He is very protective of his younger sister and worries when he can't find her. He strongly disproves of Lisa's attraction to Yukinari. When he first meets Tomo, he realizes she is lost and is very kind and compassionate when taking her back to Yukinari's house. He continues to help her when he sees her, and the two eventually develop a sibling-like relationship and often teams up with her. He generally acts with contempt towards Yukinari but does act friendlier (ie not constantly insulting him) towards him eventually. He has often been showing to have genuine feelings for Kirie and in the last episode is willing to injure himself to protect her.
Trivia[]
- Fukuyama wears gloves to prevent triggering his condition of rashes should he inadvertently touch a male, however, since it is psychological, the rashes still tend to manifest even with gloves.
- Another reason he wears the gloves is due to elitism because he doesn't like touching anything "the poor" have touched.
- Despite his unscrupulous attempts to womanise, there are exceptions:
- He becomes a completely innocent big brother-like figure for Tomoko, never entertaining his usual habits of perversion.
- While his head maid, Lilica Stacy, is exceptionally attractive with beauty that inspired awe by any who see her, he doesn't ever pursue her, with the implication that it is a combination of him respecting her skills in her position (fulfilling household duties, maintaining his spy network, organising his events, training staff, and ensuring security), thus doesn't wish to sabotage it, and also due to being intimidated by her because of her superhuman strength.
- Kosame is also voluptuous, yet he doesn't try to seduce her, likely due to her being one of his sister Lisa's attendants, and doesn't want to upset her. It could be a case like Stacy in that he respects her position in the staff and is afraid of her incredible strength. Another element could be Kosame being a lesbian, yet perhaps not a concrete one, as he had pursued women that appeared to be gay with the belief he could be the "exception."
- Despite his depravities, he holds no proclivity toward incest, with his protectiveness of Lisa being due to finding Yukinari an inadequate man for her, rather than romantic jealousy.
- Fukuyama and Yukinari serve as opposites:
- He is tall and handsome, while Yukinari is short and deemed plain by those who don't know him (although, acknowledge he is cute, but it isn't considered a "manly" trait for most of their classmates).
- He is highly arrogant and frequently demands attention, setting events largely to do that, while Yukinari is deeply insecure and is exceedingly shy.
- He has a similar syndrome to Yukinari, as the latter develops rashes when touched by any female other than Miharu, however, Fukuyama develops rashes if he touched any other male - both conditions seem entirely psychological though, as Yukinari gained the condition after suffering intense bullying by girls when a young child, and Fukuyama was able to grope Yukinari when he was crossdressing without negative effect until learning his true gender.
- He can quickly seduce superficial women into flings, but can't create long term romantic relationships like Yukinari; also, Fukuyama has numerous "bimbos" that he carelessly indulges in, while Yukinari has multiple women vying for his attention, yet only stays with Miharu, being unaware of other interested women (Kirie) or finds personality flaws and/or pushiness unappealing (Lisa, Maharu).
- Condition aside, Yukinari is mostly too terrified to touch women, while Fukuyama has the opposite problem of being too enthusiastic, leading to him molesting them until being stopped by sufficient force.
- Fukuyama has a high level of endurance as he can suffer significant pain, yet recover relatively quickly, whereas Yukinari is disabled by a common cold - an exception to Fukuyama's stamina is when he ate food prepared by Kirie that was so awful that it poisoned him to be bed-ridden.
