Kazuya Mishima is the main antagonist in the 2010 live-action film Tekken and the titular main protagonist of the 2014 film prequel Tekken: Kazuya's Revenge. He is the son of Heihachi Mishima and the father of Jin Kazama. He serves as his father's right-hand man but after Heihachi chosen Jin as the heir to the Tekken Corp. Kazuya betrays his father and take over the corporation for himself.
He was portrayed by Ian Anthony Dale in the first film and by Kane Kosugi in the second film.
Biography[]
Tekken[]
Prior to the movie, after governments and most of civilization were destroyed, eight corporations took power and divided up around the world. The biggest of them of all was the Tekken Corporation, which they control North America. Once a year, Heihachi Mishima, the chairman of the corporation, sponsors a competition the King of the Iron Fist tournament located in Tekken City, in which each fighters from the eight corporations battle until one is left standing and earns themselves a lifetime of stardom and wealth.
While preparing for the tournament, Heihachi is satisfied with the preparations and gives Kazuya the command of the Jackhammers, an elite security group tasked with maintaining order. Kazuya explains to his father that he feels a certain bitterness not to have announced the tournament himself, Heihachi still thinks he isn't ready to become the new hair of the corporation and orders him to continue to maintain security.
Kazuya sends a troop of Jackhammers to Anvil to eliminate the rebellion group from revealing the secrets of Tekken. Jin Kazama, a resident of the neighborhood is spotted by the Jackhammers. Kazuya orders his troops to destroy everything and everyone in the arena, even his own troops. As Jin makes it back to his home, a missile hits the house, killing both Jun, Jin's mother, and the two Jackhammers. This would lead Jin to joining the King of Iron Fist Tournament to get revenge for his mother.
Kazuya and Heihachi are seen attending the live broadcast watching the fight between Jin and Marshall Law, which would allow Jin to enter the tournament if he wins. After Jin defeats Law, Heihachi is impressed and Kazuya surprised with the ratings increasing. Heihachi explains to Kazuya that because Jin is a common man, representing the street.
He is then seen in his room having sex with Nina and Anna Williams while wondering about his father's motives, who refuses to bequeath him the inheritance of the Tekken Corporation. Later that evening, Heihachi visits Kazuya, unhappy about his son entertaining himself rather than continue the preparations. Seeing him behaving insolently, Heihachi grabs Kazuya by the neck and explains that winning the tournament means power and prestige, especially the honor for the Mishima name.
Kazuya and Heihachi attend at the opening of the tournament, with the latter still finding Jin impressive since his fight against Law. Kazuya doesn't believe that he's far from having the same level as the other fighters. Wondering if his son feels threatened by the young fighter, Kazuya claims that he doesn't want Tekken to be ridiculed by a amateur fighter and thinks that Jin will lose to Miguel. However, after Jin wins the fight, Kazuya leaves the room, annoyed. He meets Jin and his mentor, Steve Fox. He points out that his fighting style is similar to his, asking him if his father has ever participated in Tekken. Kazuya wishes to continue fighting, which would one day work for Tekken. But Jin responds that he will never work fir them.
Kazuya goes on the computer and looks through Jin's information and uses his DNA research, discovering that Jin is the son of Jun Kazama, whom he beaten and raped until his father found her and taken her to Anvil. He sends the Williams sisters kills Jin but fail. Furious about the Williams sisters' failed attempt, he takes matters into his own hands and goes to meet one of the participants, Bryan Fury, and threatens to reveal that he is a cyborg if he does not kill Jin. He then rigs the next fight to have Jin against Yoshimitsu. As the fight begins, Heihachi realizes that Kazuya rigged the match and the fighters changed. In response, Kazuya betrays his father and establishes himself as the new ruler of Tekken. As the fight between Jin and Yoshimitsu continues, Kazuya is satisfied with the ratings going higher, believing that death is exciting than violence. Heihachi eliminates the Jackhammers and triggers the alarm. The participants tried to flee the arena but are stopped and locked up by the Jackhammers. Once Kazuya saw the audience increased thanks to the previous fight, Kazuya reveals to the participants that the next fight will be to the death.
Jin, along with Steve, Christie, Raven, and Heihachi escaped from the cells and hide in the Anvil. Kazuya and a group Jackhammers goes to Anvil and search for them. After finding them, Heihachi explains to Kazuya that he never bequeath Tekken to him, believing that he did not understand his mind or what he stood for. Kazuya has his father to be executed and returns to the arena. He tells Jin that if he had not known his mother was pregnant, he would have killed him.
After Jin defeats Brayn and became the winner of the tournament, Kazuya becomes furious and decides to face and kill Jin himself. Kazuya enters the arena with two axes and tells Jin that he cannot deny the curse of the Mishima family. While trying to kill his son, Christie creates a diversion and allows the latter to gain the upper hand, wounding and pinning Kazuya. Jin refuses to kill Kazuya and admits to his father that the Mishima family curse does not concern him. Kazuya is last seen leaving the arena and realizing that he lost control of the Jackhammers. Unbeknownst to him though, Heihachi survived his execution and still has Jackhammers loyal to him.
Tekken 2: Kazuya's Revenge[]
The film opens with Kazuya waking up from a nightmare from his past and in a apartment, not knowing who he is or what is doing there. A group of armed men arrive in his room and kidnaps him to a guerrilla leader known as "The Minister", who gives Kazuya the letter "K" as his codename and has an explosive implanted in his chest if he fails any of his missions. He becomes an assassin and shown to have expertise hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship despite having amnesia. He becomes friends with the local janitor.
After winning in a sparring match, the Minister orders K to kill his opponents, but K refuses and tells him to let let the janitor go. The Minister ignores K and has his bodyguards, Chloe and Natashia, kill both the opponents themselves teach K lesson. In the next few days, he is sent on a mission with a young assassin named Rhona Anders in an apartment where his next target will be. There, he befriended a tenant named Laura after rescuing her from three muggers, then begins a romance between the two. After completing one of his jobs, He tells Rhona that he wants out and regains his freedom, to which the latter warns him that is too risky and it would get him killed.
While K is on a mission to eliminate a man named Bryan Fury, the target defeats K and warns to walk away before disappearing and later confronts Rhona about his target being a former associate of the Minister and can help him escape form the organization. Later, Laura removed the implanted explosive from K's chest. He Receives a call from Fury to warn K that the Minister has marked him as a target. He meets up with Rhona and Fury shows him a newspaper that they are all pawns to the Minister.
They decided to infiltrate the organization and Rhona kills the Minister. K heads back to the apartment and discovers that Laura has disappeared and leaves with Rhona to find Laura. They head to the Gentek Factory where K is joined by Heihachi Mishima, who reveals to K that he is his biological son and had him brainwashed to test his survival skills. Laura joins them and kissed Heihachi, revealed to be brainwashed as well, altered her behavior from being a lovable to being a seductive woman. After she is killed from Heihachi's kiss, an enraged Kazuya attempts to attack his father, but the latter disappears and leaves two os his men named Rip and Thorn to fight his son. Kazuya defeats them, he accepts his bloodline and leaves the building with Rhona to find his father.
Appearance[]
He is a tall man of muscular stature around his thirties. He sports a short slick black hair, a goatee, and brown eyes He is usually seen wearing black clothing and also has the same identical tattoo on both his waists and a scar on his left cheek.
Personality[]
Kazuya is presented as a power-hungry, egotistical, self-righteous, and cold-blooded individual. During the first half of the film, he is shown to only cared about gaining his father's inheritance, entertaining himself instead of continue the preparations for the tournament or bringing honor to the Mishima family, and increasing the tournament's ratings. Once he shows his true colors, he is willing to betray his father, killing the rebellion group, evening people who works for him, and cheating and blackmailing his way to get what he wants. Though the second half of the film, he reveals to the participants all that manners to him is power. He is also rather sadistic when he abused and raped Jun years ago and wanted the participants to fight to the death to increased the ratings.
