Keith Holligan is the secondary antagonist of the Sci-Fi Anthology Black Mirror episode, Demon 79, which is also the finale of Season 6 and the premier of Red Mirror. He is a perverted man who lives in Nida’s town who is hated by everyone due to murdering his wife.
He is played by Nicholas Burns.
Personality[]
It is shown that Keith is an extremely creepy, awkward and perverted older man who leers out and harasses women, with one of them being Nida herself. He makes extremely racist and perverted comments towards her as he attempts to get her to sleep with him. According to Gaap, while Keith didn’t actually mean to murder his wife, he got a hard on while doing it, cementing his pervertedness. Despite that, it is shown Keith might have actually been remorseful of him murdering his wife. When Nida reveals her intent to murder Keith, he shows very little resistance, only placing his glasses by the table as he admits that he already felt someone was gonna try and kill him. He admits that he feels horrible for the death of his wife, and that he didn’t mean to, however, his last words still attempt to paint himself in a much better light, saying he was still a good husband before Nida killed him.
Biography[]
Nothing much is known about Keith’s life, except that he has a brother named Chris and had a wife, who he apparently fought with a lot. During one heated argument, where he suspected her cheating, he beaten her to death while in the bathtub, not meaning to actually kill her but getting a hard on while doing it. He was tried for her murder but was dismissed as his wife drove him to it. He proceeded to move in with his brother, leaving the house a complete mess.
He goes into the shoe store, creepily trying to hit on Nida and after a small discussion where Nida agrees to hold shoes for him till next week, Keith attempts to get her to write her number, which leads Nida to fantasizes strangling Keith to death before getting snapped out of it. Two days later, with Gaap, she goes to the bar to try and pick out with him who to sacrifice next. Nida sees Keith at the bar and decides to kill him for the death of his wife. Going outside, she spots him urinating and Keith makes more perverted comments as he attempts to convince her to go to his house.
Nida agrees and the two go into the house, seeing it completely trashed. Keith awkwardly suggests the bed and they get there, with Keith playing some music before going to freshen up. When he comes back, he sees Nida with the hammer, and calmly asks if she’s going to use it on him. She nods, and Keith calmly accepts it, sitting down and putting away his glasses. Keith admits he knew everyone hates him and wishes him dead, and he starts crying as he states about the guilt he has over killing his wife, and when he attempts to claim to have been a good husband, Nida hits him in the head several times with the hammer, killing him violently and brutally. However, due to Keith already murdering someone, thus “playing the home field” the demons don’t see it as another sacrifice.
